Others were talking about it in class today, and I'm not sure if I heard the one guy correctly. He said that he leaves it in his hair for a couple of months before washing it out.

Anyone here with coconut-oil-in-the-hair experience offer any advice? I was thinking of buying and trying.

A few months is awfully excessive. A few days is more like it. But it's good for the hair.

Okay, why not sushi or coffee?  Coffee, I can kind of understand, but in moderation it's fine.  Sushi, what's wrong with raw fish?---plus now there's this fad of fake sushi that doesn't contain any raw fish whatsoever (yuck).  Well, drugs, of course not....wait, not even legally prescribed ones?  Guinness, at least we agree on something, had to happen eventually.

I don't use coconut oil in my hair. But I've heard it's good for lady-parts (I'm a little skeptical of that and I wouldn't try it).

Why do some people this weird set of beliefs about coconut oil. Why would you put it in your hair?!? That sounds dumb.

Resident licensed cosmetologist here. For people with curly, wavy or otherwise thick hair, the scalp doesn't produce enough natural oils. Coconut oil helps keep the scalp moisturized. This is necessary if you don't want a dry, itchy scalp.

Many black people use it in their hair so it's more common than you think.

Coffee: can't stand the smell, and I have actually tried it a couple of times: disgusting muck.
Sushi: haven't tried it. It doesn't appeal
Drugs: I don't even like taking prescription medicine.
Guinness: like drinking liquid marmite

No, I wash my hair and dont walk around like a greasy hoe. Wanna know how to keep your hair healthy? Don't blow dry it. Don't use hair products on it besides shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner. Don't color it.

That's it. No need to skip showers and look all nasty and dirty haha.

People who don't wash their hair every day are not dirty or nasty. Black people at best, should only wash their hair once a week due to the lack of natural oils their scalp make. They have more breakage in their hair than a person with pin straight hair.

I really wish people would educate themselves before making assumptions like this.
