Now Christians piss of Christians.

In the Netherlands we celebrate something calles Sinterklaas, which is based around Saint Nicolas, former bishop of Myra. He is basically your father christmas/santa claus. This celebration is on Dec. 5th, so last Sunday. Kids still believe he is real just like the Santa Claus thing. On Saturday people got upset over this card being thrown in letterboxes all over Rotterdam:

The front of the card asks: Which one is real?
The back of the card says: None of them. Sinterklaas is dead, Father Christmas is made up, and God is not a bearded old man. Just look at Jesus, as he has said: He who has seen me, has seen God.
Lots of parents complained about this, even threatening with a lawsuit for upsetting their children in their Sinterklaas celebration.
I just sit back and enjoy the show, I think its rather funny. I never quite understood this need to lie about Sinterklaas/Santa being real or not, this is a celebration about the life of a man who supposedly did good things, why would we need to have it as a living person? People don't believe in the Easter Bunny as a real person, why should Santa be?

For some reason it is endlessly amusing to lie to children about the reality of santa.
When they realise the truth they never seem to get angry that we lied though, I suppose the fact they got all those lovely presents made up for it.

Sure, but those presents are just as nice when you get them and tell parents tell you that it is in honor of some old guy from the past.

Ah but santas 'magical' it does add something to the proceedings.

The more "thinking" Evangelical Christians regard Santa Claus as the "father of lies" and a "demonic agent" and often tell their children Santa Claus does not exist. I guess they don't like competition to Jesus.

Ugh. I still remember when I got old enough for my mom to admit to me Santa wasn't real. I got SO MAD! Not because Santa wasn't real; Because she had lied to me for twelve years. My parents still want me to play along with my little cousins when they talk about Santa, but I don't do that. (I actually once told one of my cousins that Santa wasn't real, but she didn't believe me. That got my parents mad) But I don't care. I AM NOT pretending there's a man who comes overnight and gives you presents. I always learned to tell the truth, and that's what I will do.

For Man to move forward we must throw away religion, and put it in the Mythology section, and then use Reason, Logic, and Common sense to solve all our daily problems. That's a Higher Level of Thinking.

Ah, this one caused a real debate with my wife. I was of the opinion that we should not treat Santa Claus as being real to the kids, i didn't want to lie to them. My wife is of the opinion that its harmless fun.
She finally won the debate by default by telling the kids about Santa Claus and this basically leaves me with the option of breaking the magic for the kids.
So, i'm now engaged in a guerrilla action by encouraging the kids to think about things and dropping hints about fantasy vs reality when i get the chance. I hope soon one of them will catch onto one of my comments and realize its all a bunch of crap.
A finite number of monkeys with a finite number of typewriters and a finite amount of time could eventually reproduce 4chan.

I never believed in Santa Claus. In fact, my family doesn't even celebrate Christmas the traditional way. The day before Christmas, we all go out, I get whatever I want and that's it.
