Guess god should have made them (the pigs) cuter.

Not really considering he doesn't exist. It's one of science's fuck ups. They really could have tried to evolve into some sort of cuteness.

I've eaten plenty of kangaroo, although I wouldn't call it a delicacy.
The meat can be tough and there's not much fat.
The tail is good for soup, just like oxtail.

When I was in Vietnam I searched high and low for cooked dog but never found it.
I did eat spider, snake, squirrel, grasshopper, maggot, bull frog and scorpion.
There's no creature on earth that I find so cute that I wouldn't try eating.
I also have no qualms with eating a friend if I find myself starving and shipwrecked on a deserted Island.
To each their own. :-)

You'd eat a person? I'd have to draw a line at cannibalism.

No problem eating any animal provided it well cared for in life and given a quick death, not sure if it's true, but I have been told that the dogs are dropped alive into vats of boiling water, that sounds like needless cruelty to me.

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

I think it's the way they're killed and how intelligent of an animal they are that is a cause for concern.

I've seen videos of them being crudely beaten to death and transported in a cage stacked on top of one another still alive.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Yet people are okay with seeing cows and pigs transported by tractor trailers, stacked nose to tail, ALIVE, on their way to some slaughterhouse.

Interesting how ones views seem to change when talking about specific types of animals.

Funnily enough but I don't see the SPCA championing for livestock in any of their commercials. Just poor little dogs and cats. I guess livestock just doesn't have the cuteness factor that dogs and cats have.

Wikipedia Wrote:The Lychee and Dog Meat Festival, commonly referred to as Yulin Dog Meat Festival, is an annual celebration held in Yulin, Guangxi, China, during the summer solstice in which festival goers eat dog meat and lychees. The festival began in 2009 and spans about ten days during which it is estimated that 10,000–15,000 dogs are consumed. The festival has been criticised by animal welfare and  supporters.

Being a non-vegetarian myself, I find that I have no grounds to criticize the festival. But I wonder why the animal rights supporters (last line from the Wikipedia quote) don't criticize the killing of pigs, fowl or fish. It's probably because those animals aren't as "cute" as dogs.  Rolleyes

I don't think a war with China is worth it. The truth is what one society considers pets, another considers food. I'd only be for better treatment, just like any other food source.

The only other place I'd put my foot down is when the species is endangered. Humans have always eaten other animals. I wont eat dog myself, but then again, I wasn't raised in a society where people do.

That's good.
If we get shipwrecked together I won't have to go through the bothersome task of drawing straws. :-)
