It would be like North Korea. Everybody would be smiling out of fear and kneeling before the Great Leader/God.

Hard to say. There still wouldn't be a god though.

As was pointed out in the book Cosmos, it was religious orthodoxy and the associated oppression that killed the nascent Greek scientific revolution, mostly by killing off the best thinkers. Only for christianity was very much weakened by the wars of religion after the reformation, the Enlightenment went the same way.

Let us never forget the scientific vandalism perpetrated by Xtian fuckheads on the Archimedes Palimpsest.
The Archimedes Palimpsest is a parchment codex palimpsest, which originally was a 10th-century Byzantine Greek copy of an otherwise unknown work of Archimedes of Syracuse and other authors. It was overwritten with a Christian religious text by 13th-century monks.[ The thinking of one of the great scientists of all time was erased by these ignorant jesus freak fucks and replaced with stupid hymns to their stupid fucking god. All xhristards suck.
Generally, when atheism has rallied around particular movements, it's either been at the fringe such as Mythicism, or debacles like Atheism plus.
I don't think atheism per se would be much missed if it simply disappeared. There have been some good thinkers, but their contribution to the ultimate course of history has been slight. |
