The connection between Christianity and Capitalism

It rather seems like another set of lies you need to tell yourself every day in order to remain Christian.

Man, please.

'Suicidal', doesn't mean someone has actually committed suicide, it refers to a state of mind...

I can pull up plenty of posts of people that are deeply depressed or have contemplated suicide, but you're just going to have to take my word on this one, because if you insist on proof, anything I post is on YOU.

However I'll leave you with this:

Atheism Has a Suicide Problem

Quote:Depression is a serious problem with in the greater atheist community and far too often, that depression has led to suicide. This is something many of my fellow atheists often don’t like to admit, but it is true.

That article talks about atheists being surrounded with religious people who are bullying them and therefore being prone to suicide. I mean even on this forum we saw that some atheists can't admit the truth to their surroundings and have to pretend to believe in god, participate in rituals and other bullshit.
Also your argument is the same as Christians do for gays that homosexuality is making you kill yourself while gays are prone to suicide because religious people are bullying them.
Otherwise there is nothing in the atheism itself or in homosexuality that makes people want to kill them selves.

Look it this way: the happiest nations in the world are those where people are least religious, like Scandinavia, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland.
And yet the least-happy nations on earth are highly religious societies with virtually no atheists, like Congo, Zimbabwe, and Burundi.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Yeah. Don't do that, man. If you post something on here, that's on YOU. You are responsible for your own posts, not FM.

Did it ever occur to you that some people come here for support in their darkest hour? People do that on Christian forums, too, don't they? There's nothing wrong with that.

And you've had to have frequented Christian forums before, Huggy. There are some real loons out there. Somebody posted some shit from facebook not too long ago where this guy's FB username was "Eradicate all Atheists. Bring back God." Say what you will about depressed atheists, but we don't have anything resembling a fuckjob like that! For every depressed atheist contemplating suicide, I can show ten "upright theists" contemplating homicide.

What about the trolls who create accounts here and spew their insane gospel in all caps? What the fuck is wrong with them? Does Christianity make them do that?

I think the takeaway here is that you can't make sweeping judgements about an entire worldview just because you can demonstrate that some of its adherents have personal problems. That is the essence of the ad hominem fallacy and it proves absolutely nothing.

Tee hee, I can't resist.

Maybe we can agree it's small 'c' communism instead of the big 'C' kind.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Here we go again...

I find it hilarious when you guys want to make a point about the happiest countries, you try to skirt around the fact that they have a state religion, but never mind all that..

Denmark
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Denmark
Quote:According to the latest Eurobarometer, as of 2015, 78.2% of Danish people are Christians (67.4% are Protestant, 2.0% are Orthodox and 1.3 are Catholics), 19.7% are non-religious and 2.1% are members of other religions.

Iceland
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Iceland
Quote:As of 2017, 81.53% of the Icelandic people were registered as Christians, most of them belonging to the Church of Iceland and minor Lutheran free churches.

Switzerland
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Switzerland
Quote:A survey conducted by Pew Research Center in 2017 found that 75% of Swiss adult population consider themselves Christians when asking about their current religion (irrespective of whether they are officially members of a particular Christian church by paying church tax).

There a quote from the Apostle Paul that states "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." In other words, if there was no assurance of an after life then there is no point to the life we currently live, and this realization of vanity results in depression.

It is my opinion that the majority of atheists having convinced themselves that no afterlife exists, have in turn become "of all men most miserable".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Ne...f_Bradford
Quote:On 28 April 1642, Newport married Lady Diana Russell, fourth daughter of Francis Russell, 4th Earl of Bedford at St Giles in the Fields, London, and had by her five daughters and four sons. Newport died aged 88 in Twickenham and on his deathbead, he wailed in anguish:

Oh, that I could lie for a thousand years upon the fire that is never quenched, to purchase the favor of God and be united to Him again. But it is a fruitless wish. Millions and millions of years will bring me no nearer the end of my torments than one poor hour. Oh, eternity, eternity forever and forever! Oh, the insufferable pangs of Hell!

He was buried in St Andrew's Church, Wroxeter, two weeks later and was succeeded in his titles by his oldest son Richard. His younger son Thomas was raised to the Peerage of England in his own right.

No, I don't want you to copy and paste the entire articles. But you could be a little more responsible about how you quote from them.

But I forgot who I'm writing to.

A person has to be dealing with an awfully fucked up life to think it's pointless, afterlife or no afterlife.  I find it odd that believing people see so little value in this life, apart from some promise of another from god....what with this life having been created by god in the first place, in their estimation.

Ungrateful shits, lol.
