Alex Jones and Infowars gets 'disappeared' - are we headed in the right direction?

RE: Alex Jones and Infowars gets 'disappeared' - are we headed in the right direction?
Private companies can do what they want.

Users can leave if they want.

A month or so ago it was clear that Facebook was shadow banning Milo. I wasn't getting his feed even after changing my settings so that I would. I reported it to FB, and got the feed back.

Economics will either make these places accept conservative views, or an alternative that does will pop up.

Quote:The irony is that big tech has literally conspired against Alex Jones for trafficking in conspiracy theories
Banning Jones isn't a conspiracy

Is Jones' lunatic conspiracy mongering a conservative view, or were you limiting yourself to describing Milos gay trolling as a conservative view?

Is this what's left of conservatism? From where I sit...I see conservative views well represented on every single form of social media..and I certainly wouldn't want to tie my own ideology to either of those clowns. If something crops up to host either of them, it will do so to cater to the loon viewership, not the conservative voice.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Didn't he claim to be a performance artist to keep his kids or something.

Quote:Notorious US broadcaster Alex Jones is a “performance artist” and his on air persona is an act, according to his lawyer.
Mr Jones runs the controversial Infowars website, which is known for propagating conspiracy theories and its support of Donald Trump.

But Mr Jones is now embroiled in a custody battle with his estranged wife, Kelly Jones, with whom he has three children. She said some of Mr Jones’s on-air rants – for which he is renowned – are evidence of him being “not a stable” father.

Yet the NRA  goons shit their pants when Airlines and sporting goods stores did just that.

Infowars "reporter" fucks up.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/08/infowar...umiliated/

Quote:InfoWars reporter tries to ‘fact check’ claim that Facebook is a private company — and gets utterly humiliated

Quote:InfoWars reporter Millie Weaver on Tuesday publicly humiliated herself by botching the basic terminology of economics journalism to try to claim Facebook is a public utility.
After Facebook axed Jones’ Facebook page this week, Weaver and other InfoWars supporters have tried to claim that this amounts to an unconstitutional violation of the website’s free speech.
The flaw in this argument is that Facebook is a privately run company that can make decisions about whether to give individual media outlets a platform — and the Constitution clearly states only that the government cannot do anything to restrict free speech.

Apparently you have to be an idiot to work at Infowars.

I was speaking of Milo in particular, and conservative views in general. Candace Owens was banned shortly by Twitter for merely taking tweets made by Sarah Jeong and replacing "white" with "black" or "Jewish."

Nope. Ben Shapiro seems to be a leading conservative voice on social media. So far Twitter hasn't banned him, but antifa tries to shut him up when he has live appearances. And they just went after Candace too.

Huh? As noted, users can leave if they want. There's nothing wrong with the NRA encouraging a boycott. Seems to me that the left was first at that. Now the right has adopted that tactic as well, and seems to be better at it.

Personally, I don't use Facebook or Twitter. I have flirted with doing so in the past but I really don't see the value of them either as a user or as an advertiser. I'm not boycotting them. They just aren't part of my life. It amazes me that people think they are indispensable. But they aren't. Just ask MySpace or IBM.

Instead, easily refute his goofy arguments and claims. More people will believe you than him. It's only the most deluded people that would believe this guy. He was snarling in anger abut Brian freaking Stelter. He's obviously unhinged or a dramatic actor/con man. Both, likely.

To be clear they have every legal right to do this. That is not in doubt.

No it does not.

America has had a history of judicial review on speech and have been pretty consistent in protecting free speech. People vs Larry Flint is one of the most famous cases. Larry poked fun of Jerry Falwell's mother, but the fake booze add was clearly labeled PARODY.

What is not protected speech is slander, liable and incitement. Alex had no intent in making it clear it was all an act and deliberately preyed upon fear and because of that the Sandy Hook victims have been HARMED by his actions. Those are subject to civil suits. Just like in the 60s 70s and 80s the KKK was successfully sued for it's speech that lead to harm of fellow citizens.

Things like South Park or Dave Shapel not in any danger. If you fear those types of parodies being harmed you have more to worry about from conservatives than liberals. Iran is an example of a conservative religious and POLITICALLY CORRECT state.

You have far more to fear from 45 than you do liberals when it comes to silencing free speech.
I'm talking about for instance, a Kyle Kulinski or The Scathing Atheist. Online outlets that tell the truth but are truths that corporate entities may not like. And they may not always be nice about how they tell those truths.
