Space Force?
#21
RE: Space Force?
Indeed, Brian..... as Jennifer Rubin points out in today's Washington Post.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/08/leading...-spending/

Quote:Whenever progressives want the government to spend money on programs — universal health care, parental leave — Republicans consistently denounce the plans as too costly. But when Republicans want to spend money on ridiculous and unnecessary ideas like massive tax cuts for businesses or a “space force,” somehow the expense is no longer an issue.

Quote:“Let’s remember Republicans promised — swore up and down — that the cuts would pay for themselves,” she wrote. “This was categorically false, obviously so at the time. Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Susan Collins (R-Maine) and others who made this ludicrous assertion should be held accountable — and voted out of office.”

The GOP tactic has been the same for decades, Trump is simply not very good at it.

There is an old Daffy Duck cartoon, where he pits the beagle against Foghorn, and says, "You better watch out for the other guy" and sells booby traps to both sides.

The GOP creates needless problems simply to step in to play hero. It has nothing to do with governing and everything to do with protecting their rich doners.

Our democratic politicians can only be accused of being held hostage by the narrative and our voter apathy in midterms.

He’ll have special space troopers in white and black armour, have his engineers design wedge shaped spaceships, dissolve the senate, and then give himself a Darth name and start blaming “rebels” for anything that goes wrong and spreading “fake news”.

I never found the space troopers in Star Wars to be remotely believable. They couldn't hit the side of a barn with their lasers. Some evil minions!

However, in the case of Trump's Space Force, that's exactly what I expect. Trump will just paint bulls-eyes around each miss and declare victory.

The four services actually have branches that deal with space. Putting them all in one basket would be a good way to keep an eye on the space cadets in T.Rump's administration.

Yeah the soldiers in Starship Troopers displayed a serious lack of tactics, too.

Um no.

I thought the creation of "Homeland Security" needless. We had the Secret Service, CIA, NSA, FBI. I fail to understand why we couldn't just fund what we already had and streamline it to make it more efficient.

Same with ICE. We already have boarder security, and INS and the wall is a bullshit idea, because most of the entries legal and illegal happen at border crossings that are already set up.

The best thing to do is simply fund the Air Force already doing this, and fund cyber security.

Homeland Security was in addition to the others.  The Space Force, possibly, will be a single provider. Right now satellites depend on the USAF to keep them informed of space junk on collision orbits. Things like that could be consolidated.
