Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, Round 2
#51
RE: Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, Round 2
When my uncle turned 69 we bought a cake in the shape of boobs. The artist wasn't bothered with that request. Or as my wife told me, they bought a cake for a friend of hers batchelor party that was shaped like a penis with balls and everything.

Those can be expensive cakes, but no probçlem besides that.

This shop has stated that they do not make those cakes either

Theres alot of things the hatebaker wont do..it just so happens that one of them is adhering to state and federal anti-discrimination laws.

It's his contention that christer god demands this behavior, that he needs a religious exemption to the law.  Unless it's also yours, you might not want to carry that jug of water.

Would you be okay if someone refused to make a cake for a Christian Wedding? In fact let's say multiple cake shops refuse it.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

White supremecy isn't a protected status and the irony of you going for that example in a discrimination case is fucking delicious - it was white supremecy that these laws were initially formed to combat, lol.

White supremacy says ''I'm better than you'' asking to bake a wedding cake for whatever the self identified gender is saying 'I love you'

The two are simply not the same.

Why are they refusing to do the job?  I think that if it goes against their conscience, they can refuse a job that has a message against the LGBT. A gay florist could refuse a job for a float that conveys a message they don’t agree with.

If a person came in and asked to make a birthday cake, which also conveys a message celebrating their induction into the klan, do you think a person should be able to refuse that order?  Does it make a difference if the message is explicit or implicit?

Do you believe in freedom of speech only when you agree with the position?

We generally are talking about what the law says about what or who you can discriminate against here, and on gender identity the law is clear, on some of the other matters it is less so.

Actually i have a very wide tolerance when it comes to freedom of speech, after all I don't have to listen to it, but again you are purposely confusing freedom of speech with freedom to act as a person wants. Otherwise can you imagine anything but chaos ?

Free speech grifting in action, lol. Nothing says Christian Moral Character™ like pretending that discrimination and white supremacy is free speech.

Especially repulsive considering that most 'white supremacy' groups (especially in the U.S.) are devoted to protecting christian values (or some other religious nutjobbery) or way of life.
