I have more than twenty, but people are still surprised I have less than a hundred FB friends.

Not judging anyone, but I just never saw the point in that.

Yeah, I gathered that was the case for you. I meant I didn't see the point when it's not like that.

I don't use FB much for personal stuff, but I use it a lot to get music jobs.  (However, by "use it a lot" I mean check the relevant groups a couple of times a day, which takes just a few seconds)  FB has become the location of a lot of freelance musician postings.  The discussion pages for musicians are also full of useful information, with members ranging from people at the tippy top of their profession to rank amateurs.   Definitely not the best place for in-depth discussions, but a great place for many perspectives.

I have a Facebook, but only to keep in touch with some out of state friends. By keep in touch I mean look at the parts of their lives they choose to share and liking some statuses.

I also use it to share goofy ass memes with my girlfriend whenever we can’t be next to each other or text bc of work.

You. You are the type of person I thought about when I was considering making my profile entirely private! Lmao

He made a lot of humorous jests about Facebook's failures, but the bulk of his video focuses on the example of Facebook in Myanmar (Burma). In Myanmar, Facebook was originally excluded from data charges for Myanmar users, making it essentially free, resulting in Facebook becoming the prime source of information for many in Myanmar. In Myanmar, for many years, Facebook was used to spread hate speech against the Rohingya, in part due to the fact that Facebook had insufficient Burmese speakers such that they couldn't properly police the content (still a problem). Thus hate in Myanmar was spread wildly, was believed as fact, and not adequately policed, thanks to Facebook.

A content moderator says she got PTSD while reviewing images posted on Facebook

Quote:SAN FRANCISCO — A former Facebook content moderator is suing the company on the grounds that reviewing disturbing material on a daily basis caused her psychological and physical harm, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in a California superior court.

The suit by former moderator Selena Scola, who worked at Facebook from June 2017 until March, alleges that she witnessed thousands of acts of extreme and graphic violence “from her cubicle in Facebook’s Silicon Valley offices,” where Scola was charged with enforcing the social network’s extensive rules prohibiting certain types of content on its systems.

Scola, who worked at Facebook through a third-party contracting company, developed post-traumatic stress disorder “as a result of constant and unmitigated exposure to highly toxic and extremely disturbing images at the workplace,” the suit says.

Facebook didn’t respond to a request for comment.
