The Story of Dance

The Story of Dance
Hello fellow heathens.  It's about time I introduce myself.   Another refugee from TTA,  The Tits and Ass forum.  So here's my story that many of you from hyper religious families will truly  envy.  I grew up in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Tahoe and lived in what amounted to a fishing cabin  out in the woods with 4 brothers and a sister plus my parents.  We enjoyed a wonderful state of the art outhouse, no tv, almost no radio, had no neighbors to speak of except the odd cougar, honey bear and deer passing by.  The Donner Party camp sight was about two miles from our house.  Hahahaha-------> House!  Bahahaha.  I mean, our shack.

My parents weren't religious and both had seen their parents  (my grandparents) almost come to blows over religion so they were determined to keep religion out of our lives.  And they pretty much succeeded.   You're  probably wondering why we lived in the woods.  Good question.    My father, a wonderfully soft spoken  man and a bit of a Jimmy Stewart type, fancied himself a kind of philosopher woodsman type though he was a teacher and principal of a local small school so we had a sorce of money.  He was also  a classically trained pianist and the one bit  of entertainment at The Cabin was him playing Mozart and  Chopin which I endlessly danced to.

When I was about 10 we finally moved to a town of about 600 people in the lower part of the Sierras and this was the first time I came in contact with religion.  During a school Christmas program we were practicing singing Away in the Manger  and having no idea who Jesus was I turned to the girl next to me  and asked..."Who is this Jesus guy, anyway."    After  she picked her jaw up off the floor she told me  in her little girl voice "Why, he's the son of god!"  To which I thought....why the heck would god need a son.  Couldn't he do stuff himself?   To this day no one has ever explained this to me in a way that made any sense.

I must preface that story by explaining that before this episode I really didn't have a god concept when we were living up at The Cabin.  I didn't really know such a concept existed so I was  a blank slate.   I'm so thankful to my parents for not filling my mind with religion.  Thanks Dad and Mom.

When I was 11 I began taking ballet lessons because my parents were sick of me dancing around the house and knocking over lamps.   I felt at home in a ballet studio and was extremely  lucky to have a body that naturally  conformed to the rigors of ballet.  I danced semi professionally and still take a two hour  ballet  class twice a week, hence my forum name.

By the way, I have a lot of  delightful, funny  Cabin  stories but I won't bother telling them here.   I'll pepper them throughout the forum from time to time.   You'll love it.

Welcome.

You seem familiar for some reason Wink

I'm so glad you're here! I think you may have mentioned a (respectful) refusal to get an avatar. If you change your mind, PM me. I recently ran across (and saved) a TON of dancing emoticons (little animated ones like my hair on fire one I used at TTA and again here). I really think you'd find something you like there.

When I was 4 years old I almost fell into that damned thing.  That outhouse  scared the shit outta me.
