Fell off my bike tonight

RE: Fell off my bike tonight
Close shave man, glad you didn't get too badly mangled. Reminds me of the time I tried to straighten a slightly buckled front wheel on my bicycle by kicking it while in motion - now that WAS stupid - went flying over the handlebars lol

Motorcyles are fun.

But.

You have to realize you are probably going to get hurt. A helmet is no guarantee you won't get hurt, or will indeed even survive a crash. If you like going 100 mph, in shorts and a full face helmet - have fun. Just know you' re a moron.

And even if you wear full protective gear - and ride defensively -- your odds are still far worse than being in a car. Some figures show you are 25 times more likely to be killed on a bike than in 4 wheels.

I rode for 35 years - and had 3 major crashes.

I did what a smart gambler does - quit while I was ahead.

Today in the crash videos on Youtube I saw a cage cut a biker off. The bike hit the doghouse at the wheel and the biker few off the bike and hit the windshield of an oncoming car. The second car was completely out of frame before he could stop.

Well, first of all it's a scooter.  Secondly, the max speed it does is 50.

And car drivers are not educated to look out for bikes.

One major accident and many near misses.

Do you have to have a motorcycle license to ride it? Here in Minnesota, you need a motorcycle license for anything over 50 cc's, which usually top out at about 30 mph.

I would need the motorcycle license if it could go over 50.  With this scooter, I just need my regular license.

Your speed can be irrelevant.

If you're sitting still and the car is doing 70 mph - you're dogmeat...

Just being on the road is dangerous. And you're invisible.

I try to keep an eye out for motorcycle, but it sure as fuck doesn't help when they're cruising down the breakdown lane or squeezing between lanes thay clearly aren't wide enough.
