Federal Judge Orders White House To Temporarily Restore Press Access To Jim Acosta

RE: Federal Judge Orders White House To Temporarily Restore Press Access To Jim Acosta
Lower court rulings get overturned all the time, so I wouldn't put too much stock in this ruling just yet.

Freedom of the press is freedom to write. It has nothing to do with freedom of access. If I start a blog on presidential politics and demand a White House hard pass, I'm not going to get it. It's doubtful any judge would give it to me, and if he did, he'd be overturned.

The White House can stop giving press conferences altogether if it pleases.

Two things:

He pushed an intern's arm out of the way when she reached for the microphone. That's the one focused on.

He took up more time than was alotted to him, which is disrespectful to the other reporters in the room. Jim Acosta is mostly about Jim Acosta.

I'm still unclear as to what makes the ruling "liberal".   Timothy Kelly is a member of the federalist society, and this qualification was the operative bit in trumps apointment of the man to the bench.  The federalist society isn't exactly known for liberal positions or readings of anything.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Belly-spear makes a good point. 👍

Just as a matter of law, the executive branch is the law, so arguing that the executive branch's actions aren't a matter of law because they aren't an act of congress seems rather ill conceived.

I resent your characterizing it as a liberal issue. It is not. Moreover I find your slippery slope argument without merit. That you may see 'liberal' concerns as threatening the end of civilization as we know it is neither reasonable nor particularly persuasive.

Liberal (adj): Any law, court ruling, or custom that makes you uncomfortable.

Conservative (adj): Anything that gives you the warm and fuzzy that nothing will ever, EVER change.

I agree with you on the point that he was being disrespectful to his colleagues by talking over them.  However, I don’t see how gently pushing away the arm of someone who is in your personal space and attempting to take something out of your hand is disrespectful.

Suppose you lend someone your phone. You say you want it back, and reach over for it. They push you away.

I'd bet you'd find that disrespectful.

Assertiveness does not necessarily equal disrespect.

I'm not sure that respect would fare well in an explanation of what metrics or process this administration is using.
