If it was sarcasm, I am sure it was your reaction to me pointing out theists cling to old mythology and you not liking me pointing that out.

I didn't say that black holes don't exist.

Good, so don't even imply they might not exist. We have plenty of evidence they do exist.

I think you are still getting a lip twitch about my OP saying that old mythology is not required to understand our modern scientific observations.

The really freaky thing is, even with all the material in the universe it is STILL mostly empty.

...and on top of that: the baryonic matter that is the *not empty* part of the universe is.........99% empty space between the nuclei and electrons.
The universe filled with baryonic matter is basically ......nearly completely empty, both on a macrosopic and microscopic scale.....which again sheds some light on a potential *creator* of all this.....nothing, and his powers.  Jerkoff

Actually Brian37. I king of think Yonadav is referencing GC (GodChosen) and their comment of skepticism towards said cosmic events.

Hence the kudos to both of you.  Smile

Cheers.

Damn, you people trip over yourselves. I challenged Brian to take it a little beyond the television show that he watched. One of the problems with Pop Science is that it sometimes presents information as an established fact that isn't established fact. There is some skepticism concerning the existence of black holes, and that skepticism is of an entirely scientific nature. We have never directly observed a black hole, and there are alternative explanations for what we have observed.

I am not saying that there are no black holes. I love the black hole concept. It's fascinating. Black holes are sexy. But a more complete worldview about black holes does entail the knowledge that they might not actually be a real thing. Even the wikipedia article about black holes talks about alternative understandings for what we have observed.

People around here feel this need to be like a hundred percent for or against things, and you constantly assassinate your own imaginations when you do that.

Nope, no lip twitch. You just think dumb things. Nothing that I have said in this discussion has anything to do with mythology. You're just fighting with figments of your imagination, as usual. What I said about the possibility that they don't exist was pure science, dude.

Bullshit.

If you want crappy media, try Fucks News.

When you have major scientists on the show itself, pretty damned sure they are not going to risk their credibility by partaking in junk.

Now again, I am not against human rights, so in that respect, if you wanted to go around claiming every day, "The  Saints are going to the Super Bowl this year". As long as you are not violent, I wont have you arrested, but the truth would still be that they are not.

I am not against human rights. But if our species never questioned social norms, our species never would have left the caves. I see nothing wrong with saying, "That was then, this is now", and that is all I am doing here.

Humans make up god claims, and mostly get sold those claims from birth prior to formulating adult critical thinking skills.

I see everything right about the willingness to scrap old claims in favor of better data.

Actually, the possibility that blackholes in fact do not exist is not ridiculous because it is not inconsistent with our observation and known physics.  There is an alternative called black star which is also consistent with available observation,  which physics allows as an viable alternative end point of most processes thought to create black holes from some progenitor object.   A black star might closely resemble a black hole in all its obsevable influences on its surroundings, but it would not have any event horizon the defined a black hole and would not be quite as “black”.

Thanks for you pathetic attempt at patronizing me like I am a puppy.

There is no dispute about the existence of black holes. The only questions about them now are what happens in them, and size and the effects they can potentially have.

The following observatory is just ONE of many methods that have confirmed the existence of black holes. This L shaped technology detects the gravitational waves of black holes.
