RE: Question for Christians and Muslims

I was taught, at aCatholic school, that only a fool is absolutely certain of his beliefs .That it is only human to have doubts from-time-to-time..
In extreme cases, this doubt is called "the dark night of the soul" because it comes close to what Catholics consider the greatest sin of all; despair.
"The term "dark night (of the soul)" in Roman Catholic spirituality describes a spiritual crisis in the journey toward union with God, like that described by St. John of the Cross. "
"St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, OCD, a 19th-century French nun and Doctor of the Church, wrote of her own experience of the dark night. Her dark night derived from doubt of the existence of eternity, to which doubt she nonetheless did not give intellectual or volitional assent, but rather prevailed by a deepening of her Catholic faith. However, she painfully suffered through this prolonged period of spiritual darkness, even declaring to her fellow nuns: "If you only knew what darkness I am plunged into..!"[8] "

Oh yeah, the Catholics have had some pretty impressive loons.
As I understand it, in Islam ,it is perfectly ok to lie, denounce the prophet ,even pretend to convert to say Christianity , in extremis. I think for money to save a life would probably be OK. Islam can be terribly pragmatic, even convenient. Christianity is so uncompromising, in every sect, they are all so damn positive they are right..
Thought for the day: It's so unfair: If the believer dies, is wrong, he disappears into non existence, and is unaware. IF the atheist dies, and is wrong, he may be in very deep doo doo. Of course, as it was the Christians who invented hell, I'm confident if there is a deity, he/she/it will one of infinite compassion and forgiveness. If not, I ain't going.
