Question for Christians and Muslims
#11
RE: Question for Christians and Muslims
I pretend lots of things, every day. I even sometimes lie unfortunately. I do hold that my principles of earning your way through life is my response to the OP. And in the other example, I also hold that my principles to be an example to others in my Chrisitan walk would be enough to allow my family to die. Is there something I need to explain about that or does that answer the OP question and intent?
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

Glad you are not part of my family.

Christopher Hitchens said it best about the Abraham Issac story, "If you asked me to kill my own son, my response would be, "No, and fuck you."

My late mother made her OWN decision to not seek more medical help to prolong her life. But you are out of your fucking mind, that if someone asked me to let harm come to her or let someone kill her, and I could prevent it, but I would be rewarded for loyalty if I did nothing, FUCK THEM.

The Abraham Issac story, AND the Jesus story, are not for the benefit of humans. Those stories were written in the age of kings, and even in polytheism, the mortality rate was much higher, and back then loyalty to your local ruling king/family was a mandate, and back then, if your king demanded your kid fight for them, you had no choice.

The "sacrifice" motif of antiquity was about protecting the ruler, it had nothing to do with the human empathy of the non ruling class.

"God is satan" would only be an expression of a thought oft repeated in magic book..and, not for nothing, some of the earliest and most influential christians thought precisely this. It's why they needed a savior figure in the fist place - the god of this world..by reference to the state of this world..was evil.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

What most humans do, is focus locally, as to which they've been sold, and this has been the majority throughout our species history worldwide.

It is absurd for one club/religion to claim they have a patent on a punishment/reward motif, or a "super hero/super villain motif, or even a "first person/creation" mythology.

Compare the world's history throughout the time our species started writing those things down, everyone had their claims as to how things worked, all very bad guesses, but pretty much the same human projection on the world around them.

Even the Buddha mythology, despite current generations claiming it is a "philosophy" had his birth being born form a royal line in Queen Maya, and the Queen being told by the divine world that she would give birth to a child who would give wisdom to the world, and even his birth in the oldest mythology had him avoiding the birth canal.

The only difference between the mythology of antiquity, and Yoda vs Darth Vader is that some old mythologies are still sold as fact.

Of course if you're Muslim you would say 'prophet Muhammad' instead of 'Jesus' and 'Allah' instead of 'God'.

Again just to repeat you would not have to yell this in public nor being recorded by video or audio.

what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and loose his soul?

that said it is possible to do that and still find forgiveness in christianity

If we could lose our souls by saying the wrong words souls would have long ago gone the way of the dodo.
(or, for that matter..thinking the wrong thoughts)

Such a gae answer...  You literally ignored 1/2 my post inorder to come up with this obvious emotional retort. What did I say sport? I said one could say these things and still be saved. my point was if your trying to sell your soul for gain, what have you gained if you loose out on eternity?

Who gives a shit about being saved?  Not me.  I commented on the obvious idiocy of the idea that magic words could lose souls.  If that were the case..it would be a -serious- design flaw, much like the ability to accidentally stop ones heart from pumping.

"God" would be "saving" a bunch of soulless motherfuckers.

For me, the answer is no.

Let's break it down: what you're doing is trying to purchase loyalty. In terms of purchasing; God is by far a better giver; so put your 100,000 in front of eternity in paradise+immortality and see which would fare best.

I would choose God's deal anytime over yours.

I would do that. It wouldn't affect anyone other than me and God knows my heart. If I had to do that in front of my family and there was truly no way to save any of us, I hope my family would forgive me for not doing it.

Interesting.  So, the shame of proclaiming Thor in front of your family is more important than their lives?  Wow, tell you kids that -- I'm sure they will think you are a great dad.

If Yahweh were real, I bet he would be doing this: Facepalm
