No, it didn't take on a life of its own.  Twenty million nitwit Frankensteins took it from the dead and very deliberately pumped life into it where there was none before. Many of them are even on Terry Crews-- perhaps the leftest black man in Hollywood and a loud voice against sexual assault in the industry. They say he's not black enough, because he tried to clarify what Neeson was talking about.

This really isn't a race issue, though. It really is the revolution of internet nitwits who have realized you don't have to be smart or informed to type in all-caps.

Yes, many nitwit internet trolls happen to be black.

My impression overall, though, is that it is the white SJWs who are the most extreme and uncompromising in their tone.  I think generally black people are on the issue, have thought about it, and will engage on it, whereas the white ones are entitled, patronizing little college pricks who are piggybacking on the real victimization of black people for their own self-indulgence. I don't see that many black people, for example, calling for Neeson's career to be ended.

I might be overgeneralizing a bit there, but I don't think I'm too far off the mark. Smile

SJW hysteria is the most common avenue of alt right indoctrination for normies. It was their test bubble. What you're expressing, above, is a modern riff on the democratic plantation narrative, true or false.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. It's not hysteria, it's annoyance.  SJWs are annoying, ineffectual nitwits. If you have a problem with the alt-right using that fact to bring centrists toward their cause, then guess what? Stop enabling nitwits, and stop talking like a nitwit. I mean-- you might not actually BE a nitwit, but you are certainly carrying their script.

I'm not entirely certain that the existence of nitwits anywhere is what actually brings anyone to the cause of white supremacy.  Hey, at least you're aware though, right? That cuts through alot of "wtf are you talking about". You know that you're repeating white supremacist rhetoric, you don't care, because sjws are nitwits who annoy you.

That -might- be a poor reason to spread that rhetoric.

I'm against PC nitwits because I don't like nitwits.  However, the white supremacists are also nitwits, and so I am also against them as well.

When I tell a PC nitwit that I don't intend to follow their dogma, they label me a white supremacist.  When I tell a white supremacist that I'm not down with the racism, they label me an SJW.

That's because nitwits believe that my enemy's enemy is my friend, and that disliking their particular flavor of nitwittery stands as support for the opposing flavor of nitwittery.  But it just ain't so.

What I care about is intelligent conversation, productivity, and an eye on problems which has as its main intent their solution. I'm all for addressing racism-- I just don't think shouting down Hollywood actors is a useful way to do that. And whatever you think about me ("racist asshole piece of shit" I believe were your exact words), the fact is that I've floated very many ideas with the express intent of narrowing the race gap.

I was referring to the many of them on Terry Crews bit.

I don't know of those white SJWs you speak of.

But yeah black people are making great points here worth listening to.

... and of course this thread I created as a way to discuss the repercussions of racial violence, how deeply-ingrained racism is, and the potential of an individual to rise above their own irrational biases turns into just another shouting match. And we wonder why we as a society are so unprepared for a serious, sober, discussion of race.

Well, I'd start with the human animal.  We have tribal instincts, and there is science showing it's ingrained.  People say "Babies aren't born racist, they have to learn it." Babies, it turns out, already do in fact show a preference for same-race faces.  This isn't surprising to me, as the further from the mother a person looks, the less safe (I'd imagine) a baby feels around him or her.

So right off the bat, I'd throw out the idea that racism is purely a social construct.  I'd look at it as an instinct that we should understand and manage, and see how bad narratives spin off of it.

Neeson, in my opinion, has expressed this pretty well: that when someone is enraged by an individual from an identifiable group, he may project that rage onto the entire group.

We play an elaborate game of racist taboo where we attempt to discuss things like racial violence, the deeply ingrained nature of racism, and the potential of any person to rise above either...so long as we don't use the word racism.  We can't have that serious discussion, in part, because any such discussion immediately turns into an airing of white grievance and sjw hysteria.

Consider Liams reaction to his own anecdote once it was out in the wild, at first it might seem like a moment of transcendence, but then it immediately gets backed away from in pursuant remarks, diluting any value it may have had as the man himself distanced his own comments from whatever truth about racism he might have otherwise expressed, leaving nothing but whatever noise is on twitter in that newly created void. The noise on twitter is then the subject, and thus the subject of -silent word-, the whole thing reduced to a running joke. What was he talking about? Not -silent word-, why would anyone think that, he asks an incredulous audience. So..what was it, then? Instincts, human nature, an uncontrollable emotional response, projection, a promotional stunt...anything...anything...but -silent word-.

There is no means to transcend the thing we cannot name. We'll be in limbo for as long as we're determined to be.
