Has Anyone Come Across Any Evidence of Pre-Muhmamamd Mass Graves of Female Babies?

I've heard this claim a few times: Before Muhammed Arabs where so disgusting towards women and girls. They were seen as weak and diacarded as babies apparently. The Egyptians didn't seem to think this from what I understand of history. Sure they have psychical differences so you I wouldn't necessarily see women hauling massive stores to build the pyramids but they seemed to have a good life in the Egyptian dynasties.

Where would be a good source (perhaps a presentation by a secular historian on the topic) to investigate this claim? I don't want people to get away with keep asserting this "Arabs liked to kill female babies before Muhammad" because to me it sounds iffy. It's an extraordinary claim and needs evidence and not simply assertions.

Do we even see mass burial sites full of just women?

What did the trolls kill? I'm confused. This is a response to a claim made in another topic. I am genuinely curious as to where this claim comes from. Atlas is a good guy so I'm sure he has his reasons, like the other people who repeat the same claim.

Okay, you sounded like a troll, calling Atlas a good guy. I chortled.

But to answer your question, why would there have to be mass graves if the kids were simply discarded? Feed them to the dogs, throw them in the river, scrape some sand over them, etc. People in the desert wouldn't travel great distances to discard an unwanted kid, they'd go over the nearest dune and cover them up with some sand. Jackals take over from there.

Bottom line, the evidence likely isn't there.

Maybe "I like Atlas" would have been better than "Atlas is a good guy". When he's not making baseless assertions he seems like a nice guy to talk too. I am really befuddled by the claim that Arabs treated girls like garbage because it couldn't have been any worse than a country like say, Pakistan today surely. There were so many different tribes, each with different cultures and customs.

I highly doubt the claim considering muhammads first wife, Khadija, lead a caravan, was his boss, fought in wars and even had multiple marriages... I'd say that's quite progressive.

Killing off your female children doesn't seem like a winning reproductive strategy. You'll have more males in the long run if you have more women who can give birth to them. Maybe the plan was to kidnap and rape the women of other tribe's to secure the next generation; but I'm not sure how good an idea it is to have most of the women in your camp be kidnap and rape victims. I'd need more evidence to believe this was rampant practice.

Infanticide has a long history.  A family with too many mouths to feed would dispose of excess children, as well as those with obvious physical deformities.  We know this happened throughout Roman history, during the Golden Age of Greece and in much of pre-Christian Europe.  There's really no reason to doubt that it happened in pre-Islamic Arabia as well. 

But the wholesale extermination of female infants because they were female?  Nah.
