Thanks tack. Was curious. I think your belief is interesting. And it does get around the decomp issue.

I’ve always sorta disliked just saying “miracle!” as if that answers anything. I’m often a very nuts and bolts person (partially because my job involves a lot of nuts and bolts). So the answers to the how questions kind of interest me.

@Gae Bolga I'm always up for seriously discussing God. But that's a hilarious observation from someone who didn't address one point in the last post after I even took the time to number and reference them for you. I think you need some camomile dude.

You're welcome and if you'd like to further discuss the points because you have questions or I didn't clearly enough state them, feel free to.

PSH, I grow that shit for nitro fixing fertilizer.

I disagree with you, for reasons that I've already laid out.  Try not to be a nutter and ignore that.  You came highly recommended. I -want- to like you...and you're making it difficult.

RE: Did Jesus decompose?
"So, did Jesus decompose prior to his resurrection? If so, how did he resurrect? If not, why not?"

That is not christian doctrine. I've been a recovering Catholic for 50 years, so I'm a bit rusty;

The risen Christ was not a zombie, but fully alive. A living, breathing man. The gospels deal with that very question, in the passage about Thomas doubting the person was the Lord , and being invited to stick his hand into Jesus 'wounds. He was then convinced; he needed to see. So would I. The apostle was Thomas didymus (the twin), known since as "doubting Thomas. Not certain I have the right Thomas.

After being seen by many people, over several days, Jesus ascended bodily into heaven, without dying again. But of course, Jesus is god, so he can do what he likes . According to the Catholics, the only human being to ever be given that privilege, was Mary, Jesus' mother.

That's the gist of it, as far as I remember. I'm sure one of our resident apologist would be thrilled to cite chapter and verse. I mention only for your interest, not as an argument

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((9)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

OT a paradox; Jesus was said to be both god and man.

If he was fully man, by definition, he would be imperfect and commit sin. But, if he was god, by definition he was perfect, and incapable of sin. seems to me, can't have it both ways

OFC "he" couldn't account for that...but the thing to remember is that he was murdered for your "sins' and that it would be untoward to reject this transaction of blood and life.

Christians are assholes who would rather not pay for their parking tickets. They'd prefer that the betterman be killed.

It’s wonderful how you assume my reasons for disbelief. So, spoilers, this had nothing to do with my disbelief and actually propped up my belief for a LONG time after it should have faded. And just because YOUR church doesn’t accept this theology doesn’t mean other Christians don’t.

Sorry, I don’t like people assuming intent. If you’d like to know why I don’t believe, you could ask.

Christian theology is diverse, and if you believe in the non-human Jesus thing proposed I think that’s interesting, but most other Christians would disagree. As stated, it would solve the decomp problem, but it’s not really widely supported. I mean, how do you solve the decomp problem?
Look at your religious view and see what you stated, I'm I to now assume you had reason to believe or what?  No Christian accepts what you posted, it is wrong according to the reading of scripture period. It amazes when an atheist tells me what Christians are suppose to believe and what they are not to believe, like you know things we do not, funny. Whatever your reason for disbelief it want be acceptable before God, period. The scriptures from the OT tell us that His body would not decompose and yes I believe in the physical body of Christ, if it wasn't a physical body the the scriptures are not truthful and what He did for us would be meaningless. God the Father took care of the body until the time for it to be resurrected, He had no broken bones and was crucified on a tree ie. wood just as the OT prophecies foretold. I still say that you were either taught wrong or you did not pay attention in class because of what you posted in your previous post, go back and read it and see if you can find your glaring mistake.

So, how do you think Jesus managed to come back from being this:

and become this?:

[Image: Caravaggio_-_The_Incredulity_of_Saint_Thomas.jpg]

First and for most those are pictures that may not be accurate as to what happened. Jesus did not decompose nor did He have broken bones as the crucified always did and He was killed upon a tree ie, wood just as the OT prophecies tell us. Miracles in the spiritually realm are the answer, if you do not like this answer then so be it, it's your right to believe as you wish, however it doesn't make your belief real.

GC
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

And yet it doesn't amaze GC that he is the one who is telling what Christians believe in, as if they all believe in same shit.

Funny or sad but GC alone has demonstrated many times he doesn't know a lot about the Bible. like he thinks that Stan doesn't have legs but crawls on Earth, although it is said in the Bible that he walks. Is that funny?

(March 8, 2019 at 4:14 am)Godscreated Wrote: The scriptures from the OT tell us that His body would not decompose

Trolling/ ranting/ lying - pick what ever you want. OT says about messiah will be a great military leader, who will win battles for Israel. He will be a great judge, who makes righteous decisions. But above all, he will be a human being, not a god, demi-god or other supernatural being. And also that Messiah will bring all Jews to Israel and restoring Jerusalem and establish government in Israel. He will rebuild the Temple and re-establish its worship, bring world peace.

(March 8, 2019 at 4:14 am)Godscreated Wrote: God the Father took care of the body until the time for it to be resurrected

And yet "God the Father" is supposedly the same person as "God the Son" so they were both "dead" or both "alive" there is no other option.

(March 8, 2019 at 4:14 am)Godscreated Wrote: He had no broken bones and was crucified on a tree ie. wood just as the OT prophecies foretold

Again ranting/ trolling/ lying since there are no OT "prophecies" like that.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

(March 6, 2019 at 4:57 pm)Natachan Wrote: So, a question for religious people who believe that Jesus died and resurrected.

Within a few minutes of death the brain becomes so damaged as to be incapable of sustaining most higher functions. A few more minutes and it can’t communicate with other parts of the body. A few hours later the neurons that physically contract the muscles will break down. After this the body cannot, through its own power, move or maintain any functions.

The story goes that Jesus was dead for (conservatively) nearly 48 hours. Under normal conditions, even with refrigeration, the brain is now mush and the neurons are now gone. The process of decomposition has progressed to such an extent coming back is impossible. And we’re not talking about best case, this is long enough to start to stink. Hell, at this point insects should have showed up.

So, did Jesus decompose prior to his resurrection? If so, how did he resurrect? If not, why not?

It depends on the temp of the tomb.. In that region you do not have to go very far down to be in the 60s or 70s then also remember Jesus by his mother and the other marry gave him full funerary prep which would have included mer oils and herbs to help stave off decomposition.
