It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.
I got the lecture on "fittest" when I was at Purdue. Prof. said that the fitness was a scale, and the top end of the scale all reproduced. Pressures, like predation and/or climate, affected survival as well. He called it a "cloud of fitness, not a single individual's luck".
