Atheist who is having a crisis of faith

LadyforCamus can you explain why they used women to find Jesus when it makes the story less reliable, in Jewish culture they were considered 2nd class citizens so people would be less likely to believe them

How the hell should I know? I didn’t write it. How come Hermione never cheated on Ron with Harry? That’s a question that keeps me up at night.

LadyForCamus that made me laugh about the harry potter shit. Do you personally believe that men and ppl of the time would've been less likely to of believed women?

Why women found Jesus is proof of the resurrection, is this logical? You can't even refute it, if it doesn't make sense then it must be true

I can only deduce that you have a reading comprehension problem. Belief hangs it hat on a pin head.

I think it’s irrelevant to any argument regarding the historicity of magical bible claims. Maybe it was written that way because that’s the way it happened, or was believed to have happened.  Maybe a man named Jesus was crucified, and maybe women really did find an empty tomb after three days. And, maybe other people made the magical, “ascended into heaven” stuff up after the fact.

Finding an empty tomb is evidence of grave robbing.  That's about it.

I just explained to you why that’s irrelevant to the argument.

But why would they make up a lie about women if it would not be believed as well? I feel it's completely relevant. Do you see my point at least?

Perhaps they made up the lie because the point you're making NOW was also made back then. Fiction is a funny thing. Since the dawn of time writers have been bolstering suspension of disbelief in their work.

Which is more plausible?

1. Someone threw in a tidbit about women into their myth/story even though it may hurt its credibility.

2. A man rose from the dead and floated into outer space.
