Fuck Ralph Nader.
I'd rather have to execute a high speed emergency turn in a Corvair than any of the top heavy pieces of shit SUVs made today.
A Corvair had good handling - and on dry pavement I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to roll one over.
Unlike the shit handling, computer dependant garbage that every soccer mom is hauling her brood around in today.

LFC:
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I find it rather selfish of the people who have young children at home. Shouldn’t being around for your kids be more important to you than scaling Everest? I understand why people do it, but how can that be worth the very real risk of devastating your immediate family? Do that shit when you’re single.
While I am absolutely am picking up what you're putting down, death can come at any moment.
Your point of view can be said of anyone who has a dangerous job.
Police officers. Firefighters. Even race car drivers and airline crews.
If you choose to play it safe for the welfare of your children, that is completely understandable and truly commendable.
Unfortunately though, life does not give a single flying fuck about such benevolence.

Hey Ed Hillary - what the hell do you think is so special of an experience - that you have to wait in line?
I won't wait in line to see a fricken movie. I sure as hell ain't waiting in line to see if something will kill me......

The difference being that climbing Everest isn't a job - it doesn't feed your family or pay your bills or fund your retirement. It's really nothing more than selfish self-aggrandizement.
Somewhat off-topic, but being a cop isn't a particularly dangerous job.

Boru According to those I have asked - the most dangerous part of an officer doing a traffic stop - is the danger of being run over by rubberneckers...
It happens far too often...

Just saying that overall, being a cop is less risky than being, say, a construction worker or a garbage collector.

Again, the overall point is that death cares not for your actions, whether they be selfless or selfish, when it's time to go, it's time to go.
