Why does God get the credit?

It really gets on my nerves when God gets the credit for something that obviously had fuck all to do with him.
I've just been watching a tv programme called Long Lost Family, where a team of researchers track down family members for people who have been searching for years.
The case tonight was a woman searching for her mother... After the painstaking efforts of the researchers going into minute detail on census records her mother was found alive and well and living in Canada, they were reunited and all was well. The researchers then through DNA samples found her brother on her fathers side living only seven miles away, they were reunited and all was well.
Asked how she felt about finding her mother after all these years, and the bonus of finding her brother who she never knew existed, she replied "It's a miracle, amen."
I nearly choked on my beer.

Since people can't demonstrate obvious magic, and no one can see or touch gods, the only way to give them credit for anything is to claim some mundane or natural act is at least partly because of a god. It's cheap, and pretty insulting to the people that did all the work, but it happens.

She never thanked the researchers. I thought that was out of order... I'm fuming.

Farmers work the soil. Shippers get the food to the store. Store keeps the food fresh, and sell it to you. But thank god for the meal we're about to eat, because he did a thing an eternity ago.
Oh and got creates babies in women after men have sex with them. And only when men have sex with them.
