The law now says if a dog bites a human, its behaviour will be evaluated, instead of putting it down. Wait for OLB to come here screaming about leftist politics. ANY dog can bite, and for a variety of reasons. An isolated dog bite doesn't always mean that that particular animal is a danger to people. Boru

One day she was sleeping curled up on the couch. My granddaughter tripped and fell onto the couch right in front of Lady. She woke up startled and she snapped...she didn't make contact. Once she realized what had happened she was fine. So, yeah, I agree that a single aggressive action should be evaluated. “If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.” — Confucius (August 24, 2019 at 9:42 am)LastPoet Wrote:(August 22, 2019 at 5:03 pm)wyzas Wrote: This is a dog thread, get it right. I'd be highly suspicious of a behaviour evaluation that found otherwise. Boru

T he only evaluation that needed to be made is head or body shot.
Is it just how I remember it or is it more often not a single pit but two or more together when these things happen?
My son's girlfriend has a pit that is sweet as can be. Her pack is made up of people and a cat. The biggest threat to me is she is so happy to see me that she nearly bowls me over coming to say hello. Her exuberance may be because I usually have treats for her in my pocket. People with dogs need to train and socialize them...according to the breed characteristics. The owner needs to be the alpha in the pack. Kids need to learn how to approach dogs as soon as they can be taught and closely supervised when young. Little kids make sudden movements and sounds that can be interpreted as threatening to a dog. A pack of dogs allowed to run free - that's a recipe for disaster. “If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.” — Confucius (August 24, 2019 at 10:07 am)BrianSoddingBoru4 Wrote:(August 24, 2019 at 9:42 am)LastPoet Wrote: I stand corrected. In my neck of the woods, no matter the reason, a single reported/treated bite gets the dog put on a list at minimum. A second incident gets mandatory regulatory agency involvement. Not many survive the third incident.

A dog that bites three separate people on three separate occasions (bites severe enough to require reporting or medical treatment) is very likely a dangerous animal. Boru
