Arguments against Soul
|
|
Bring me a pound, inch, or gallon of soul - and THEN we will consider what one is.
Whare is the soul supposed to be located in the body, and how can you tell?
Is there a big bank of souls foating around just waiting to slot into a new born body? The idea just seems silly
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.
Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!
“That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.”
No argument necessary.
Nay_Sayer: “Nothing is impossible if you dream big enough, or in this case, nothing is impossible if you use a barrel of KY Jelly and a miniature horse.”
Wiser words were never spoken.
Let's see
Quote:Non-Scientologists Joel Sappell and Robert Welkos described in a 1990 article in the LA Times how Scientologists believe that when a person dies—or, in Scientology terms, when a thetan abandons its physical body—they go to a "landing station" on the planet Venus, where the thetan is re-implanted and told lies about its past life and its next life. The Venusians take the thetan, "capsule" it, and send it back to Earth to be thrown into the ocean off the coast of California. They quote Hubbard as saying, "If you can get out of that, and through that, and wander around through the cities and find some girl who looks like she is going to get married or have a baby or something like that, you're all set. And if you can find the maternity ward to a hospital or something, you're OK. And you just eventually just pick up a baby." How do I debunk that?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
Since theists are so fond of redefining simple words to suit their own ends, I shall emulate them and redefine 'soul' as the sum total of an individual's memories and experiences.
Souls exist. Boru
‘I can’t be having with this.’ - Esmeralda Weatherwax
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
