Greta Thunberg: adults who attack her ‘must feel threatened’
#71
RE: Greta Thunberg: adults who attack her ‘must feel threatened’
I dunno, if all that shit's true, I'm starting to think he might be a fairly tough old bastard.
I also think that almost the entire older generation would prefer to hear the message from someone older then sixteen, because that's what old people are like and always have been.
And when you young people get old you will be exactly the fucking same.
So shut the fuck up. :-)

Yeah but they don't all make fun of a sixteen year old, and constantly. Some of the old people are actually quite nice ... shocker!

I am not making fun of the young girl in question.

I am making fun OF YOU - for fawning over her - and expecting everyone to think the latest media wunderkind is the greatest.

I think I see the root of your problem: According to wikipedia, it seems that some people wrongly judge children with neurological problems as spoiled.

Quote:Children and teens who are perceived as spoiled may be described as "overindulged", "grandiose", "narcissistic" or "egocentric-regressed". Perception is important to take into account, because when the child has a neurological condition such as autism, ADHD or intellectual disability, observers may judge them as "spoiled" without understanding the whole picture.

Except... I don't. I don't see all young autistic people as spoiled, that would mean that all young autistic people would have to act in exactly the same way as Greta and they definitely don't. They mostly go about their business, and rarely appear on the tv or the news auditioning for the young person of the year award.

I suppose it would be preferable to the people who don't think young people have anything worthwhile to say if Greta had talked about the potential merits of knee length or floor length dresses for the homecoming dance.

Is she a degreed expert on climate? No, but that doesn't mean what she says doesn't have merit. If nothing else, she let the world know that there are young people thinking about these things and they are the ones who are going to have to figure out how to deal with it after the crochety old grumps are long gone.

The 'get off my lawn' mentality says a hell of a lot more about the 'adults' doing the screeching than it does about Greta and other young people who speak up.

This is equivalent to 'children should be seen and not heard'.

Seen and not heard?

Why do we gotta see them?

Then I don't see what's the problem. Don't spoiled kids usually whine about their own selfish needs? Greta just wants to survive, and she is making a plea in a democratic society that is designed to listen to people's pleas.
Besides guys, if you find a child to be too irritating you always have Al Gore.

Also, Greta was recently speaking at Congress with other young people, so take a look at the video and tell me do you find other young women irritating as well? Like that young woman that started speaking after Greta at 25:21 - what do you think about her and the case she made? Is it:
a) irritating but right
b) not irritating but wrong
c) irritating and wrong
d) not irritating and right

Lol, and also one of the congressmen actually asked Greta "Why should we listen to scientists?"
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
