The Chinese and Even Jews have their own calendar too. It still remains that scientifically the days are still cut into the same time periods of 24 hours a day and 365 days or 364 depending on leap year. Considering the planet is 4 billion years old, knowing you cant pin it down to an exact date, seems pointless. And how would you note a for 4 billion year old planet, or even a 13.8 billion year old universe on a check, or paperwork?

Most of the world uses 2019 as our common year for communication and business purposes in any case. I get not liking the BS claims that Christians use it to note the "return" of Jesus. But secularists say common era instead of BC.

I think the world has bigger fish to fry than to worry about a calendar.

If you want to piss off the Jesus  fundies who insist on saying BC, remind them that the days of the week and months are all named after polytheists god/s.

[emphasis mine]

Not all of them.

Point was that Christians did not invent time keeping. You are right, not "all", but most are named after polytheistic gods. "Sunday" is "sun day and "Monday" is "moon day", sure.  But Wed and Thurs are named after polytheistic gods.

Point still is Christianity did not invent time keeping, but it our noting years currently is what most communication and business use.  I think simply saying "Common Era" instead of "BC" makes it neutral instead of Christian.

2019 is certainly arbitrary in cosmic time knowing the planet and universe is far older. But from a pragmatic standpoint, denoting 2019 as the same year worldwide is what communication, business go by. I was simply saying the planet has bigger fish to fry than trying to rename the months or days of the year.

Protestants are more educated. On Orthodox sites you will not find this, as you write criticism. I did not find one in Russian.

RE: Atheistic calendar
What's more "atheistic" than a calendar filled with days named after gods we know are fake?

Christmas happens to fall on Wotans Day this year. Deep..deep irony to be had. Hung on a tree, pierced by a spear, a sacrifice to himself - for the benefit of all mankind..to bring the power and magic of the word into this world, in preparation for ragnarok.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. If the calendar is based not only on Christianity, but also on the whole of European mythology, then I am against changing the calendar. There's no point.

It's a hodgepodge of med and euro references.

Then you're against changing the calendar, full stop.  As GB said, it isn't a Christian calendar, it isn't a pagan calendar.  It's got elements of both.  I think your call to change it is little more than a knee-jerk reaction to the fact this it was a pope who modified the Julian calendar to give us the one we use today.

But let's imagine that we were using a calendar that had NO Christian influence, just pre-Christian Greek, Roman, Norse, etc.  Such a calendar would still have heavy religious influence.  Would you want it changed?

So, Japanese Buddhists go to the g7 summits on the Gregorian calendar because it is practically an atheistic calendar based on fairy tales for children.

Latin and Cyrillic also have a religious foundation
Latinization of the Ukrainian alphabet also makes no sense to change this

No Icelandic youth believes in mythology, not even children

I wouldn't argue it like that. Problem with this argument is that when you say "atheistic" to a Christian, they hear " Didn't believe in my specific god."

As an atheist myself, I also don't believe in the gods many months or days are named after. But I do agree, there is lots of hypocrisy in the fundy Christian insisting everything in life, is about Jesus.

If everything were about Jesus in life, then the days of the week then the days would be named

"SunJes"
"MonJes"
"TuesJes"
"WedJes"
"ThursJes"
"Frijes
"SatJes"

DAMN IT, now I've given them ideas.
