I'm familiar with the videos. They're alright, I guess.

Anyone watch "Adam Ruins Everything"?

Hell yeah Brain, really cool show. There have been some factual errors in multiple episodes that people have pointed out, and there are definitely some episodes that are clearly trying to push you in one direction or another either politically or ideologically. So, as with anything else, critical thinking when consuming this type of entertainment is your friend.
So, I really enjoy listening to Adam Conover and I think he's a really intelligent guy, but he does a lot better with a script and a cast of actors on a set somewhere in LA supplemented with a good amount of CGI... because in person, he's not so witty and on top of his game. He was trying so hard to be politically correct on one episode of the Joe Rogan Experience that he was stuttering and stammering, stumbling over his own words and made himself sound like a total idiot while trying to defend, quite poorly may I add, the concept of giving hormones to small children who are "transgender," as if a four year old kid has the mental capacity, self-awareness and social maturity to understand that they're trans. The guy was bending over backwards so far to be part of the Woke Brigade that he damn near broke his back before the interview was over. He sounded like a moron, and Rogan is no intellectual juggernaut by any means - I mean let's be honest. Here's the clip if you're interested (please ignore the clickbait-y title and just listen to the content of the interview, if you're interested, obviously: So, once again, just to reiterate, I love the show Adam Ruins Everything and I love Adam Conover. I think he's a smart guy, and he's very interesting to listen to. Also, the quirky sort of "I know more than you and I'm here to explain why your wrong" attitude is totally awesome for the show and adds a comedic element to the banter where, during the course of the show, everyone around Adam is super annoyed by him and are often physically trying to get away from him because he won't shut the fuck up. Haha it's a goofy show but it's informative as hell also. Great combination for me - comedy and interesting information. It's just that, with everything else, you gotta' think critically when people are trying to fill your head with information, and I was just really disappointed with his appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience. He honestly let me down throughout that entire episode. But, I'll continue to watch Adam's show if they keep making it. Are new episodes still coming out, Brian? I know they had some episodes on Netflix but it was like super spotty... they'd have like all of season one, then like four episodes from season two, nothing from season three then like seven episodes from four, five and six combined... super weird. I wonder if something happened with the rights to different episodes like if different directors did different seasons or something. Not sure.

Adam Ruins Everything isn't really a binge show. It's more of a "I have 15-20 minutes to spare right now." kind of show. You can skip all around. Mind you, it has some stupid campiness to it, but it's a great onslaught of information.
It isn't so much an 'I can't spare the time for it' thing as it is me not being able to switch mental gears that quickly. Unless this Adam bloke is going to deliver a baby in the East End in 1962, I'm not going to be able to give it the attention I should.

I don't watch much TV and watch even fewer movies so I don't have any streaming devices and even recently cancelled Netflix...all I ever seemed to do with Netflix was scroll the guide trying to find something to watch.
'Call The Midwife' sounds interesting and I can get it for an okay price on Amazon Prime...tell me more so I can decide. When I do get interested in a show I tend to binge watch. Sell me on it... RE: Anyone watch "Adam Ruins Everything"?

If you had Netflix, you'd be laughing. It's based on the memoirs of a nurse/midwife who worked in the Poplar neighbourhood of the East End on London in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It centres around a convent called Nonnatus House - some of the midwives are nuns, some aren't. They frequently deliver babies in conditions of appalling poverty, and the show deals with such topics as back alley abortionists, the introduction of birthcontrol pills, unmarried mothers, the Cuban missile crisis, the thalidomide nightmare, and so on. I tried, but Adam ruined the experience.

Well, well, well - the cancellation doesn't kick in for week. Guess I can check it out and see if I want to re-subscribe. ***************Okay - I'm in. Thanks for mentioning this series. This is the kind of thing I enjoy. |
