I have requested the last week of June off to attempt, for the third year in a row, to take a vacation with my daughter.

I don't anticipate a zero level threat of COVID in the near future so I plan to just go for it.  

Hopefully this doesn't jinx us all to a variant that causes body parts to fall off or randomly duplicate.

I've been vaccinated and I still recently got covid. It fucking sucks because my mom is in the hospital with a bad leg and I can't go visit her. It just sucks. Like, I don't mind so much getting it, but right now is the worst time, so why fucking now?

It still needs more study but here is another reason to get vaccinated and try to avoid serious infection.

Now, researchers reporting in ACS Chemical Neuroscience have shown that, at least in the test tube, the SARS-CoV-2 N-protein interacts with a neuronal protein called α-synuclein and speeds the formation of amyloid fibrils, pathological protein bundles that have been implicated in Parkinson’s disease.

Daughter-in-law has tested positive for COVID...son's employer says he's okay to work since they are shorthanded. He works at Pepsi. You basically have to die to get time off at that place...that's why husband finally left after about 22 years there.

The Mayo Clinic fired 700 employees this week who didn't comply with its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The Mayo Clinic mandate required employees to receive at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and not be "overdue" for a second dose, according to the statement. Only medical and religious exemptions were allowed, and most medical and religious exemptions were approved.

Approved exemptions???

It'd be hard to totally dismiss religious objections, although if I were the one making these laws, I'd definitely add a stipulation that the religion in question would have to have had anti-vaccine views prior to March 2020. Maybe add another to close a loophole for anyone who converts to one of the few religions that would have qualified specifically to evade the vaccine, but then, I fear the first alone would be pushing it.

Then again, looking at the five states that have removed said exemption, it might be a good idea, although it'd be risky, given that the Republican Party seems to be so pro-virus at this point.
