American health care workers have remained resilient during the pandemic but are feeling the ongoing strain, with 23% saying they are likely to leave the field in the near future, according to a new poll.
About half of the respondents to the poll from USA Today/Ipsos reported feeling "burned out," 43% said they were "anxious," and 21% said they were "angry" about politics and abuse from patients and families.

I am surprised the numbers are as low as they are. I have healthcare workers in my family, can confirm. They are over it.

A good friend of mine retired a little earlier than planned due to the risk of COVID. She had been an EMT for years but was working in a doctor's office for the last few years.

Health Canada approved Medicago's COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, which uses GlaxoSmithKline's adjuvant to boost immune response, making it the first approval for the plant-based-manufacture shot anywhere in the world.
The two-dose vaccine has been approved for people aged 18 to 64 years, the health agency said in a notice
https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/s...icago.html.
The shot was 75.3% effective against the Delta variant of the virus in a late-stage study, the two companies said in December. Efficacy against hospitalisation was 81%.
The vaccine also showed overall efficacy of 71% against all variants of the coronavirus except Omicron, which was not in circulation when the study was underway.
The shot uses a technology known as virus-like particles (VLP), which mimic the structure of the coronavirus but contain no genetic material from it.

The KN95 mask is the modern version of the Plague Doctor Mask.

Two preprint studies released on Saturday offer additional evidence that the coronavirus pandemic started at a market in Wuhan, China.
By analyzing data from several sources, scientists concluded that the virus came from animals and spread to humans in late 2019 at the Huanan Seafood Market. They added that no evidence supported a theory that the virus came from a laboratory in Wuhan.
"When you look at all the evidence together, it's an extraordinarily clear picture that the pandemic started at the Huanan market," Michael Worobey, a co-author on both studies and an evolutionary biologist at the University of Arizona, told The New York Times .

Must be god's roundabout way of reminding us that eating seafood is an abomination.

I really don't mind wearing a mask...but I am seldom out and about. I understand people, like husband, who has to wear one all day at work are getting tired of it.
But the headlines lately are for articles that say we may not need to wear masks any more as long as we are vaccinated and boosted...then you read the article and they essentially say the opposite. I have read that masks have reduced non-COVID respiratory illnesses so that's a plus.
Husband asked the nurse at work how much longer they had to wear masks...she said probably another year. My question is why are they making people wear a mask but not requiring vaccines for everyone.
