The Death Penalty - are you for or against it and why?

Prisoners who want to commit suicide shouldn't be stopped (nor should any person in my opinion). A prison under a Libertarian government would receive minimal support from the state, and would largely depend on revenue generated from the labour of the prisoners.

What you are describing is the american prison system.

It is slavery by the 'back door'

Also death penalty is not a punishment, it just let's them escape without being actually punished

Dont get me wrond Ash, I agree 100% with what you are saying for your reasons, I also see it from the other view. I admit I support the death penalty for selfish reasons so far, because I would not want to be around murderers in prison knowing they can just keep killing and we keep them alive and well to kill more people.

The only way I would be against it in this situation is to ensure that murderers were placed in solitary confinement for the rest of their lives, but that is expensive, and Void makes a good point that precious resources are wasted on such things.

Trust me, I see both sides of the argument, and I feel that I am damned if I do and damned if I dont. That I would be disgusted with EITHER opposing it or supporting it is an understatement. I will be selfish and say violent murderers should be killed off. They left the society behind the moment they took a life with planned malice. They no longer deserve the resources that are the benefits of a benevolent society. They therefore should be removed from the burdon of that society.

The human condition creates an absurdity when connected to the cosmos. I dont want people to kill, so I am willing to kill to stop them. I realize the absurdity of saying that I support the state the legal ability to murder those who commit the crime of murder. "Thou shalt not kill"? If that were true then all life would die because you have to kill to live.

I don't care for the burden as long as me and my state has no hand in killing others, we banned that load of crap around europe for a reason it's heinous and no being or organization should have the power to dictate the right to live of others, even if they kill other people is no reason to turn ourselves into hipocrites

I am NOT for spending money to incarcerate these people, they should get NONE of our resources.

Ideally we'd dump them all on an island and let them fight for their lives on a plot of land with limited resources.

Gulag, forced-labour camp. If they refuse to work, lobotomise them, or have them made an example of. I'm against the death penalty as the default option for heinous crimes, but if a corpse motivates a camp of sociopaths to work...

Lobotomy is worse than death Smile Other than that I agree.

I find it hard to phathom how somebody could be opposed to the death penealty, but be in favour of gulags and labotomy.

So you would rather torture a human than end their life quickly?
