By presenting studies that show occurrence of non-heterosexual behaviors in the natural world, from bonobos to goats. By showing that since we humans are, yes, animals and animals do this on a frequent basis, then it is probable that those behaviors are as abnormal as any other?

Good Job refuting my retracted comment though!
Ok, so I decided to respond to the OP instead of reading the whole thread.

If that is your argument you've plainly failed, showing the existence of homosexuality in the animal kingdom does not show that homosexuality is normal, it shows a correlation that can be just as easily (and more succinctly) explained by homosexuality being a cross species abnormality, some genetic mutation that causes different genetic expression and hormonal imbalances.

Ok then. I guess since birth defects happen across the animal kingdom we shouldn't be calling the 3 legged goat 'abnormal'? Cancer is not an abnormal growth. Animals mate with their immediate families quite 'normally' so I guess incest is a "normal" behavior for humans to engage in. There are many animals that kill and eat their own species. Jeffery Dalhmer was normal according to your logic.

Liar. Post 115, the one you responded to, is not the OP. I was being sincere stating "good job refuting my retracted comment". I thought it well written and the points clearly communicated.
I was complimenting you. Did you wake up today and have a big plate of mean-eggs and ham? Washed it all down with a tall glass of haterade?

Anything that promotes more love in the world has to be good...in a world of so much hate so if 2 people of the same sex want to get married and pronounce their love publicly then good on them. There are too many people prepared to knock homosexuality through fear and prejudice. And it is fear and prejudice that has hampered the progress of mankind for far too long

I love loopholes.
I developed my love of loopholes from many years of internet gaming whereby the more people exploit loopholes the more game patches have to be released to balance the game out. Balancing the game out leads to a richer gaming experience.

Jeffery Dalhmer was normal according to your logic.
Birth "defects" are infact quite normal. They happen to everything and are not an incredible uncommon occurrence. At worst they are 'undesirable' and will lead to the creature dying out (or as it well might be: being the new paradigm that the species revolves around).
Cancer is an accelerated and uncontrolled growth, and it is hardly abnormal. It is perhaps less abnormal than birth 'defects'
Incest is infact quite normal, and the taboo that human society has upon it is quite silly.
Humans have infact killed and then eaten those of their own species, and this is not abnormal (infact, they should be commended for not being wanton about it. Humans killing each other is perhaps the most natural and normal of all things
Serial killers and 'sex offenders'? Oh, that's plenty normal too. A thing's being negative does not 'abnormal' it make.
What does it even matter if a thing *is* abnormal? It does not change the fact of its occurrence, and it is utterly irrelevant to.... well... anything. It my be quite the abnormal occurrence when a man is preparing to kill every other human on the planet... but wether normal or not: the only thing that matters in this instance is what you are going to do about it. The normal/abnormal thought process is ridiculous to its core, because it gets us nowhere closer to understanding the situation and reacting to it in an intelligent and timely manner.
Is it abnormal that ____ occurs? Really... why does it matter if it is abnormal or not? I know you (Dotard) believe homosexuality is abnormal and seem to hold the position that it doesn't really matter... but why would it matter enough to even mention? It's not as if it is rare to the point that there are but a handful of instances of it... plenty enough of people "benefit" (lol... benefiting from marriage...) for it to become an issue in a fair number of courts.
TL: DR? In sum, I am unconcerned with wether what happens is rare or common or even if it is 'normal'... as it is hardly relevant to the discussion over _________. What matters is to decide wether what occurs is a problem, and to treat it effectively should it be.

You've pretty much convinced me of your argument. I've been struggling with relativising everything to other things and break away from absolutes - I now understand how the normality argument is moot and missing the point - harm.

Response to both:
Dotard - Why yes it was Hayterade. Or at least a form of aggression that appeared after the n-th go around with "Existentialisms" and certain people on this particular forum (not you). I'm a bit more level headed over this again.

It started as a response to folks claiming (or seeming to claim) homosex is 'natural' and therefore 'normal'. It's ok because it's natural and normal. I am challenging that notion that just because something occurs in nature does not make that occurance 'normal'. And yes, it is abnormal that ______ occurs. People often are born with 6 toes or fingers on a foot or hand. It's natural and abnormal. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but I mention it in response to the claims natural = normal.

I would agree. It only became a relevant point when someone made the claim natural = normal

Yes. Yes you are. Matter of fact through some devious connections I was able to obtain the MRI of your brain. I hope you don't mind me posting it here.

By your definition, Dotard, left-handedness is abnormal. If that's all that you're saying, then fine, there's nothing to argue about. But by repeatedly calling homosexuality 'abnormal', it seems that you are implying it as a criticism. I would not call a left-handed person abnormal, however much it may be true.
