Gay Marriage - are you for or against it and why?

I'm still very happy to be from wherever you're not.
Then you wouldn't want to live in where my grandfather's grandfather from. Because he came here after the Bolsheviks took power in Russia, leaving Crimea and settling down in Turkey. I don't think that I'd want to live anywhere else.
I like it here. I like my family, I like the place where I live, I like the people that are around me. I'd be bored to death if I lived in any western country, like I was when I lived in Germany for three years, and even there, I generally hung out with a bunch of guys from a grey wolf ocak in Kreuzberg, who are, as you'd expect, Turks.

Quote:Why? Respect must be earned... You don't respect someone for a physical trait. That is ridiculous. They can't help being old. They may have lived a long time, but that doesn't mean they have done anything in their lives to warrant respect.

I respect someone because they deserve it, not because some ass says it is tradition and you must.
And you don't disrespect them because you simply can.
Indeed, if you don't know them, do it for the sakes of those who do.

Are you seriously not getting this? If you respect someone just because you are pretty much told to, then there is no genuine respect in it.
Respect is something that you must give from you valuing someones actions highly.

I didn't know that there was something called "sincere" and "insincere" respect.
If you would have joined the army, you'd learn the meaning of respect by force.
Respect exists in two forms, and can be shown as such. By actions, and by thoughts.
I respect, say, the people that inspire me, like our founding forefathers, or great Turkish historical figures by both action and thought.
However, let's say I'm enrolled into the army. Or I'm at school.
A teacher said something to me that made me angry, or what the hell ever.
Do I return the favor? No, I maintain a respectful attitude towards the teacher, for teachers are to be respected.
Likewise in the army. Your officer saw something in you that did not fit in with his idea of discipline. And he told you to scrub the floors, the latrine or whatever, as a punishment. You obey the order, and maintain respectful behavior at all times, even if you do not respect him in your mind, you'll think all kinds of stuff about him, but you always treat him with respect.

This is I'm sure what frankie was talking about when he mentioned insincere respect. You don't respect your military officer because he deserves it. You respect him out of fear. Simple as. That is not sincere respect.

I'm betting Mr. Mehmet would respond along the lines of "Only I can approve things that relate to me"...

That's really disrespectful of you to say..
Whatever, homosexuality is natural, yet can we say that it's really normal?

You say homosexuality is natural, then you question wether it could be said if homosexuality is natural?

Are you trying to fuck with us or what?

Give it up..Mehmet has a rock hard head. all you are doing is wasting your time. He doesnt understand respect or that it must be earned. Thats why people like him are so easily manipulated by things we laugh about.

Thats all I had to read from you...there is no reaching this person.

He cant even recognize the difference between respect and fear.

You can respect the existence of someone because you fear them.
You can respect the existence of someone because you love them.
You can respect the existence of a tree because it is solid.
You can respect the existence of an ignorant asshole because they are loud.
You can respect the existence of religion as a result of how it poisons the world.
You can respect the existence of E. coli because it can kill you.
You can respect the existence of an artist either because they are amazing or because they plague your life (ie: justin bieber) .
You can respect the existence of Mehmet because he smells of bullshit and reeks of stupidity and I wouldn't be surprised if he was a troll.

Respect does not imply that you like something... it is a statement of if you observe their presence and how highly you value that (and value is plenty often negative). That said... respect for something is often given as a basis for its being corporeal. While you might completely ignore someone for everything else, you'll at least not carelessly walk through them Tongue

Well, does it really matter? Matter is, you show him respect.

As I said, respect is shown in two ways. Thought, and action. If you do not show one, you show the other. If you fail to do so, you get punished sometimes, until you learn how.

It certainly is not. Not everything that occurs in nature is normal.

Instilling fear into someone, is sometimes enough to instill respectful behavior.
It's the same in nature.

I really wonder what kind of bodily excretions or, or more probably, fluids, you reek of. Or maybe I just don't want to know.
