[Serious] Atheist Dogma
RE: Atheist Dogma

No, we are going to call ourselves, "humanists."

It is odd to describe oneself in some type of opposing faction/subset of another description.

We do not have a Democrat political party and an Anti-democrat party. It is possible, but it would be silly to continue calling it the Anti-democrat party after the Democrat party decommissions, because their doctrine was proven to be erroneous. Don't you think? Or do they continue to call themselves, "Anti-democrats," to remember where they came from so as not to make the mistake of returning to the faulty social order???

RE: Atheist Dogma
Not all atheists are humanists, and a theist can be a humanist just as well as any atheist. Why would a person call themselves a humanist if they weren't, just because they didn't believe in gods? We've already been over this.

Can you explain some problem with the definition of the word theist, or atheist...or not?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Not all atheists are humanists and religious people can be humanists

At work.

I must admit to being puzzled by the (Possible) conflation of 'Humanist' and'Atheist'.

I'm pretty sure people can and do have a myriad of ideas/phylosophys about the world.

I conversation I was labeled a 'Pragmatist' and, upon reflection and introspection, I woukd actually agree with such labeling.

While the OP has interesting veiws, I am finding every one elses replies and such quite educational.

Cheers.

Well, what happened to your highly tuned truth detector critical thinking skills signalling you to not feed the troll??? Why did you allow yourself to waste time responding to my posts - you knew they were not going to go anywhere, right? You weren't that sure??? Something about my posts caused you to react differently than to other posts. What is that??? Oh yeah, I forgot, I'm being "played."

Concern about the definition of atheism, because if it changes to a doctrine that means that atheism will "collapse," or something???

Why isn't it possible that the definition of theism and atheism are not as clear and simple as what the ancient Greeks and medeval Christian Church copied and campaigned as the definitions, when we know that they were faulty in their guarding religious doctrine even when doing things that are supposed to be "secular." And then there were and are the Christian zealots who were the editors of dictionaries who are not inclined to change the definition of a word that has to do with the guarding of the religious doctrine - American Atheist points this out. https://www.atheists.org/activism/resour...t-atheism/
