I hope our species isn't beyond the point of no return. But the fossil full industry CEOs and shareholders are not going to give up without a fight. I could care less if a barrel of crude was a penny, it will cost far more to ignore the global warming burning fossil fuels in the future if we continue to ignore the damage it is causing.

You "know"?

Really...

Is your degree in mechanical engineering? You have a doctorate in thermodynamics?

How exactly did you come by this "knowledge"?

And tell us how you are going to harness the terrawatts of power we need for a medium sized US city.... Then tell us where the rest of the planet is going to get theirs.....

Your "knowledge" you are pontificating smells suspiciously like an ill formed opinion in my book.. I'm betting "just think happy thoughts" has a great deal to do with your "knowledge".

I think anyone would agree that we can’t get off fossil fuels in a day. If you disagree, what’s your plan to get off fossil fuels in a day?

Your first mistake is assuming there always IS a solution...

If you jump off a 100 story building - there certainly is a solution.

The ground.

Just don't expect that you are going to enjoy it.

or do "The Brian" and keep thinking those happy thoughts. That always works out so well.

That’s how it works, right? Smile

Boru

You didn't read the fine print. There is a small shipping fee of 135 dollars a barrel. It is like those "free" Wish products.

I live deep in the midst of people who have made a metric shit ton of money on oil.

They are used to ebbs and flows of the oil market. Most have diversified holdings because of it.

Based on the ones I have met or worked for...they'll be fine.

So Bono and all the other do-gooders can cancel the "Petrol Relief" concert for all those impoverished oil company VP's who are looking at plumeting stock options?

Good to know.

What would I know OLB?

I am not making this shit up myself. I am quoting scientists who do have degrees.

The MAJORITY of climate scientists are saying humans need to stop burning fossil fuels and the sooner the better. That is not me making shit up, that is me pointing to FACTS the experts are saying.

To name a few.

But these facts don't please fossil fuel CEOS.

I think you may have misread Brian’s earlier post - he said we CAN’T get off fossil fuels in a day. I think any sensible person would agree with that.

No I did not.

He is assuming (wrongly) that there is an alternative - simply because he wants there to be one.

I contend that is blue sky thinking..

I think future generations are truely fucked.

Great positive thinking. You, "There is no fucking way we can put a metal bird in the air." Wright Brothers, "Hold my beer."

I agree we cant get off it overnight, but humans have no choice but to try.

I find this logic absurd knowing that most of our species history our species survived without combustion engines.

You can argue "will we", that is a better argument. But there are lots of things in the past humans thought impossible that we take for granted every day now.

Yeah, you did. Your reply, ‘You “know” ?’ makes that pretty clear.
