To the OP I can tell the difference between de-veined and not. You can get de-veined, peeled shrimp that do not have a butterfly look. I prefer the smaller ones that even have the tails off, then they are ready to go into the sauce!

Butterfly shrimp and deveined shrimp have nothing to do with each other. You can devein shrimp without butterflying them.
