In Australia they don't advertise hard liquor on TV. And while they still sell cigarettes, they don't have corporate labels on the cartons nor can you see the product on a shelf. Cigarettes are placed in non descript drawers behind the counter based on number, like a library index. Even the cartons don't have the corporate logo on them. 

And even with alcohol including beer and wine, those are all separate like some states in America have ABC. They don't sell alcohol in grocery stores at all. 

They also don't have the firearm violence problem we do either. 

They are still a western open state. I love Australia. But not once have I ever seen their regulations as oppressive, but simply smart.

I agree Tackttack. Anyone objecting to a mask regulation during a pandemic is using bad logic. It isn't "authoritarian" to tell people to not drink and drive. It isn't "authoritarian" to say wearing a mask not only protects yourselves, but your own family and friends and coworkers.

They don't sell alcohol everywhere because they don't want a pandemic of addiction. They don't promote firearms like America does, because they know and accept firearms are not toys. They still sell all of those things, but they take it seriously. Just like Nader took the auto industry on and faced it with it's problems.

It isn't oppression to do the right thing.

Walmart has announced that masks will be required in all of their Sam's Club and Walmart stores in the US. The announcement I heard on the radio states that pushback is expected.

I don't shop at Walmart...because it's just an awful place filled with awful people.

Now the semi-toothless, MAGA hat donning, Confederate flag wearing cretins are either going to have a complete shit fit or they are going to wander into the few stores I do go to that have a seemingly better quality of patrons. Of course, it will be a combination of both.

Most people are too scientifically illiterate to understand how truly small viruses are and how ineffective a homemade clothe mask is. I think part of requesting or requiring a mask to be worn is meant to insult the dignity of the wearer, and part of if is meant to show mindless compliance with authority.

Who means to insult the dignity of the wearer?  What does that accomplish?

When a citizen fails to wear a mask, he is responsible for the consequent actions of the police, whatever those might be. It is well-understood that police are unable to control their reactions when they witness any behaviors that contravene the will of Science.

You didn't answer the questions.  Instead, you imagined a scenario where police beat or kill someone for not wearing a mask.  It could happen, especially to a black person, but that doesn't answer the question.  Also, I am unaware of police enforcing the will of science.  Science has no will.  It is a practice for advancing knowledge, not a sentient being.  

Again, who seeks to insult people by forcing them to wear masks?  I have worn a bandanna around my neck while work outside since I was a teenager.  I pull it over my nose and mouth when the dust rises.  I had no idea I was insulting myself by doing so.
