I suppose it's more than a little bit theater anymore, really.  It's not so much hooah hooah rushing pillboxes anymore as it is peacekeeping and infrastructure projects.  As a groundpounder, there's no rational expectation that you'll match a pilots enemy kia.

I’m pretty confident that current and past LGBT marines are perfectly ok with the messaging.

What's your evidence of that because 99 percent of gay people on social media seem to disagree with what you are so confident in. Your gut feeling does not always represent the reality in front of us though, clearly.

Very offensive... to gay vegans. Good thing I love meat.

Moving the goalposts now? No, it would not be cool if the military put MLK Jr.s face on a bullet. Does that answer your question?

I'm sure it would be to someone. While I'm not really sure that a handful of quotes mined from twitter really counts for some sort of gay consensus - and I'm absolutely sure that there are gay people horrified by every aspect of and any connection to military action....

....you can safely assume that gay people who serve don't quite share that aversion to military operations. So, maybe just accept that it wasn't for you, but for them?

Maybe so, and I'm sure there are some gay service members that will like it, but the pride flag, which was literally created as a symbol of love, is being co-opted by war criminals who are literally making posts showing weapons of war being draped in the pride flag, and I think it's fair for gay people to point that out and not like it.

As I said, I'm sure that it translates to 100% of the people in reality who hold that fundamental aversion to military operations, gay or straight. People in the military, gay or straight, tend not to share the same concerns.

You understand that, yes? That the military..in a huge turnaround from it's entire history, is acknowledging gay servicemembers...right?

It's less "You, IA, have to like these gay bullets because you're gay!" and more "hey, do you like gay -and- bullets? Well we've got something for you!". So..maybe just maybe, let other people have their things huh? You're not exactly the guardian to the gates of gay.

I see what you're saying, but what veterans had to do with military bullets is the cause of veterans killing themselves back at home day after day, and I can only speak for myself, but if I was serving, I think I would take tools of killing very seriously, and would not be throwing pride flags on them with nail polish, but that's just me.

Let's see...Nudger who has more hardcore military experience than anyone here doesn't seem to see an issue.

I also served and see the picture as a statement of inclusion.

But go ahead and be offended. That's what you do.

The cause of veterans killing themselves back home has more to do with what is and is not true back home. Unemployment, homelessness, and poverty - and substance abuse. These are the things that await the majority of groundpounders in any age, of any sexual orientation, back home - compounded in their specific cases (as a majority white and rural demographic) by homophobic communities. Many joined to escape those things and avail themselves of the meals, and bed, and marginal pay. The military refused to acknowledge that the gay ones even existed (when they weren't actively denying their advancement on account of what they wouldn't officialy acknowledge), denying their honor in a frankly shameful display of antipathy towards brothers in arms.

No one takes the tools of killing more seriously than professional soldiers....but we still like to paint on our vehicles. We're not automatons. We have human emotions and compulsions. Did you know that we tend to paint our faces our very own way too...? That we name our equipment? That we can fall in love with a drone like it was a pet dog (to the point where soldiers have advocated for drones being awarded medals).
