Question,  how does one know if a dog is male or female?

Mine told me...one woof for female, two for male.

Dog gender has to be about the dumbest context for this imaginable. They don't appear to have a gender concept at all. That's mostly because gender isn't about whether you can reach under a dog and pull their crank. They don't seem to have social and cultural differences reducing to their sex - not even the bare bones divisions of labor found in other communal hunters. It would make a little more sense, but not alot more sense, to ask this about lions - for example.

Asking how to tell if a dog is male or female, in a conversation about gender is both ignorant and absurd - which is impressive, even for you Hugs. It does make me wonder if you think that's what we should be doing, though. Station a state sanctioned crank yanker at every little girls room..you know, to stop all the men in dresses?

Interesting...

How come when we observe exotic bird rituals in attracting a mate, we never seem to see the confused female performing like one of the males? At least in wild animals there has to be some concept of what gender they are..

Female is not girl, male is not boy. Determining the sex of a creature is pure biology. To determine their gender, you have to know about their society, their culture.... and about them, specifically, as individual participants of society in that culture. It's actually not very hard, because we're not dogs or birds of paradise. You can just ask, and skip all the staring at dicks.

We do sometimes confuse males for females, and vv..and that would probably be an issue for the bathroom police - and we do tend to hold gender expectations which don't pan out even in the case of cis people.

So....again....ignorant and absurd, less impressive with repetition, though.

Just because you keep repeating something doesn't make it true.

Not one separated from sex. You may argue that this makes our unusual gender systems unnatural, but then again, you could say the exact same thing about writing. Does that mean we shouldn't be writing?

Wild dogs are social, and I suppose you can also say they have cultural differences related to their sex, the alpha male and female.

Are you saying there's no way to tell which is which?

I really don't get the point of all of this. It's manifestly obvious that Big Gay isn't black genociding anyone, and no one has to be wrong about sex and gender to think that trans people are icky. Hell - no one controls how they feel about it. At least Dave Chapelle can find the funny in his own revulsion.
