You might be right about the something (or you might not), but it's a long way from something to someone, though. There's actually a specific fallacy for people who reject something because they can't personally fathom it: the Argument from Incredulity; aka, I can't believe it so it must not be true!

I give up. I will never understand atheism. It just seems like a sad life. And I know you guy's don't see it that way, and you probably think I'm stupid or delusional or both, but I can't help it. I just can't let go. Maybe it's the fact that if I created something and taught it for years and years to become something exceptional, and it went out into the world and completely undermined all that I'd taught it, then I went ahead and died to save it...I'd be a little miffed if it didn't show even the smallest bit of gratitude. And not only that but, turn it's back on me and say I didn't exist. 

I've learned a few things from you guys so thank you for the conversation (even thought you were secretly making fun of me).

If you watch "No Intelligence Allowed", "God's not Dead", or "God's not Dead 2" you have watched pretty much every evangelical-based movie ever made. After the cousins watched enough of those to remember what I was supposed to say when they sprang one of their gotchas on me things got really funny. They seem to believe that the lame, uninformed and just plain stupid responses they see in those movies will be what happens when they translate the big screen* to an invasion of an atheist forum.



*Big screen being limited to the space available in a church basement, of course.

I suggest further study on your part. You will find that virtually no "ethical standards" originate in the Bible, but are borrowed from earlier religions and cultures.

The questions contain bias, presupposition and (in the case of the second question) error. A more neutral way of asking these the first question could be:

How did the universe originate? Note how this rephrased question does not assume it was made by someone.

As to your second question, The Big Bang did not involve particles exploding, at least according to the Big Bang scientific theory. The particles were formed after the Big Bang event (called "Inflation") started.

What evidence do you have that Jehova is any less fictional than the rest?

I'm only 19 and still seeking answers but so far I've got this.

1. Hope (that he's real) Hope is good but hope won't "poof" any God into existence.
2. It makes a LOT of sense that he would exist, meaning I find it plausible based on the Bible 
3. Too many coincidences
Co-incidences occur endlessly. Your bias is chosing only those which fit your narrative.
4. The Big Bang DOESN'T make sense 
Agree, but neither does a God who created himself out of nothing.
5. There is a limitation to man's knowledge. We don't even have the cure for cancer, how can we be so sure that's not all we don't know about? If we don't even have definitive answers on religion vs the big bang and the Genesis and end of mankind, it means there's a that we're not aware of certain things.

What are your thoughts on this?
