Sharks are not something you fuck with.
Whenever I watch free divers who swim with any kind of shark, outside of whale sharks, I cringe.
I always think, "Better you than me."
Nonsense. Sharks are virtually harmless. It's almost impossible to get bitten by a shark, even if you provoke it.

It is true that shark attacks on humans are very rare. But they still happen, and most of the time it is because the shark confuses you for food.
It still does not matter to me. Sharks big enough have very powerful jaws and regardless of mistaken identity or provocation, you don't want to get bitten by them.
The odds are not the issue. Sharks are still not something humans should fuck with.

I like the Grey Nurse shark.
It's what you see around the area I grew up in.
I've seen them fairly close, they would have seen me before I saw them. :-)
We also had Tiger sharks which I'm not as fond of.
I once jumped off a jetty and almost landed on the tail of one.
Then, when I was under him he whipped around for a look and I had to peddle down to keep myself from floating to the top.
He didn't see me.
Also, we're having shark attacks once a week here...seems like.

FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUK!
I love whale sharks and nurse sharks, but the only reason I love hammerheads is that they look like a character out of Star Wars.
I could do a shark cage dive, but everytime I see people free diving with any type of shark on a documentary, like a tiger or bull or great white without a cage, it scares the shit out of me.
Shit, even Steve Irwin got killed by a stingray.
Even jellyfish scare me.

When my dad died we took his ashes out to Finnlayson Pt and emptied them in the sea.
There was something rattling around in the box of ashes and I thought it might be a bone but it turned out to be a brass handle.
Still, I didn't want any of my family seeing a bone fall out so I moved further out into the water, almost up to my waist.
When I looked down, as I was emptying the box, I saw about 8 or 9 baby hammerheads circling my legs.
About a month later a found about 100 of them dead on the same causeway.

Yes.
Every shark.
Because they're in the ocean and I'm a couple of hours drive minimum from said place.
No shit.......

The odds are exactly the issue. The idea that you should be even a little bit concerned about being bitten by a shark is ludicrous. You’ve got a better chance of being struck by lightning while on your way to claim your lottery winnings.
