It’s starting to look as if both Brians may have jumped to a conclusion. It seems that it wasn’t Trump who ordered the SAS shut down, that it was an internal Defense Department move.
If it WAS Trump’s idea, it just means that backlash works.

That's why I pointed out that this thread was started based on an opinion piece in USA Today.

Well, I'll be damned...I Googled
Stars and Stripes and the thing is online and there was no pay wall.
The best thing I recall about
Stars and Stripes back when I would pick it up now and then was news regarding changes to things like the PX, commissary, DODs school information (my girls went to DODs schools for a few years), and other information such as that.
Today I found out that the PX is doubling credit so that GIs can afford to get their new Class A's. I won't need to look at that paper for another 30 years.

It was often the only news I could get my hands on when I was stationed in Misawa. It had useful information and was something all services had in common. Glad they walked back on shutting it down.
