Every Catholic nun and priest I have ever known (and quite a few Protestant ministers) would disagree with your interpretation of scripture.
Appeals to authority aren't arguments. I tell you that the Catholic church is a rotten tree that produces rotten fruit, and the same goes for all of nominal Christendom, with some exceptions, of course. Mystery Babylon (the church system) has the blood of many saints on its hands. Some escape her, most don't. In other words, their opinions mean nothing.

Appeals to authority are in fact legitimate arguments if there is good reason to believe that the authority called upon has specific competence regarding the subject.

Well yes, I suppose you're correct there, but that's the problem, isn't it? Who certifies competency?
Why believe the Catholic church on anything? They have a rampant pedophilia problem, and the Protestants have a major grifter problem with people such as Jim Bakker. They clearly can't be trusted.

Because there exist no morality issues amidst those who profess to be christian.

That's not the issue. Many profess; few actually are.

What gives you the authority to determine that?

Not what, but Who. The Lord has given me authority to determine that.
You may, of course, dispute this. I'm not saying it's indisputable, but it will be much more difficult (in fact, it should be impossible) for someone to prove that I am corrupt than it is to point out those who are actually corrupt.

All I've done is answered questions and assertions directed at me. And really, I'm not interested in any kind of "showdown." Virtually any question anyone wishes me to answer can be answered at http://www.thepathoftruth.com. They have a comprehensive list of teachings, alphabetically listed. I stand with them, and direct all of you to that website first, or at least as an alternative.
