All of the good things. We have a gun culture. If we didn't - we'd be like the natives getting their first guns.

What we call superusers here in the US. 19% of us own 50% of the guns, and that 19% lives mostly in low crime rural areas. It's actually pretty hard to keep a bunch of guns in your house if there's an issue with breakins.
Just like cops, theives prefer to take your shit when you don't have your gun on you, and when you aren't home....and your shit includes your guns.
Quote: Cops are so used to guns that the culture makes people more violent by default, if you live in a country where you can be shot any moment by a madman... that would make me mentally on the edge too.We all live in a country where we could be shot at any moment by a madman..but by personal risk of being shot by a madman is so low it;s not worth talking about...and so is a cops. They're far more likely to be the madman who shoots.
Here is the difference though. Is not being armed less likely for a madman to get guns? no. Is it however reassuring that i can walk outside without thinking some crazy guy with a gun? Yes absolutely. But Police atleast in my country arent armed unless it is needed, like terrorist threats are one of those examples.
But police brutality in USA atleast i see more in context to the gun culture, its why European culture are way different interms of mentality on that level. I heard the argument why conservatives want guns, but that also has its prize of making it feel like you have a gun on your neck everytime you do stuff basically
edit: There is also an article written by Guardian newspaper "Mere sight of a gun makes police – and public – more aggressive, experts say" if you want to read on that one?
