I really wish people would stop trying to tell me I'm racist and I just don't know it. 

Everyone has racial prejudices and biases whether conscious or sub-conscience. Both inherent and cultural.

The only news I've been is whatever passes for the local papers over there in Hardee County, Wauchula. I think my picture appeared in there one or two times.

I was on camera briefly when the wife of the CO of USS Vincennes had a bomb go off in her car. I was one of several GIs who stopped to help and, when she ID'd herself, took care that there was no follow up actions that would succeed. There were nearly a hundred current and retired military looking for someone to beat on just then.

No one person has come to me and told me I'm racist. What I'm referring to is the teaching of institutional racism. They're teaching the kids, starting in elementary school that our society is inherently racist to this day and if you're white you should feel guilty and ashamed. The current philosophy in the college's is that if you are a white American, you are inherently racist.

A friend of mine told me that, even though she is not racist, she apologized to her black neighbor for the racism she faced. I would be willing to.a knowledge that a black person has faced discrimination, but I'm not going to apologize for something I haven't done.
Society is trying to push the idea on us, starting in the schools, that if you're white, you are implicit in the subjugation of non-whites in America.

Right, so we can strike the first part of this imagined offense out right away.  No one is telling you that, no one is in your face, personally.

Funny thing, I have kids from high school on down to the 2nd grade....and haven't noticed this at all.  They certainly don't feel like racists and no one has told them that they should, or, for that matter..that they should feel guilty and ashamed.  Is this also more of a generalized fear that isn't happening to you, personally?

How about the college thing.  Are you attending a college that has it as their philosophy that if you're white and american, you're inherently racist?

I'm not really sure why there would be a problem with students learning about institutional racism, mind you - that's sort of why we send kid to schools and go to college. Education. The friend apologizing bit, meh, could go either way couldn't it. A hilariously inappropriate display or a show of genuine empathy. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how you manage to take offense by whatever some friend of yours decided to do. Some people feel sorry and say sorry in general...which, given these remarks, you should probably feel comfortable granting. My wife tells me she's sorry when I have a bad day.

What do you have to apologize for, and who's telling you to apologize for it, and are you being told to apologize for the color of your skin?

Problem is that there is no free discussion in most colleges these days. If you voice conservatism you're ostracized. Are you aware of how many colleges have canceled conservative speakers lately due to outcry from the students who protest their very presence?

Okay, so, you're not being called a racist, you're not being told to apologize for being white, children aren't being told to feel ashamed to be white, or american, you're not going to a college that has it as their philosophy that white americans are inherently racist, the thing about your friend is a non issue.....

...and the real problem.........is that you feel that there's no free discussion in most colleges these days?


Though, probably not that either - as no one believes that colleges are full of twenty somethings sitting around in silence, nothing to discuss. More that you feel conservatives are being ostracized. Canceled, even.

99% of those had nothing to do with Conservatism and Colleges have the right to uninvite anyone they want and people have a right to object to them getting platformed.

Here's the fun part. If it's conservatism that people might genuinely feel is being made a shameful and detestable thing in our society, and if that conservatism could be separated from the white identity politics around which the issue is framed...then, certainly, that would be the best way to approach the subject.

Now, this is just me offering advice as to how to structure a grievance to avoid looking like a flaming racist pos. Still...I don't feel it. I've never been made to feel ashamed of any conservative position I hold. I can talk to people for hours about free markets and traditional values and small government and individual liberties and guns guns guns.......and people often disagree with my opinions on these things....strenuously, but I never get the impression that our disagreement has anything to do with any shame I'm supposed to be feeling about either the color of my skin or the conservative bent of my opinions on these matters.

Something must account for how so many people who share my politics and melanin levels have such a different experience. I wonder if Lek might know what that is, or even could be?
