Yeah, that should be left to an actual adult.

That’s an interesting piece of information however, that was a long time ago.
I’m more interested in modern day flat earthers.
I would like to know what is happening with them. Are they mostly theists? Jews, christian, muslims? Is it their holy book that they trust and not scientists or their own logic (if they have any)?
My experience has been that they are not logical and not interested in mathematics or the evidence.

Does this mean the grand  high poobah of the council of atheists gets to revoke the flat-ards 'Atheist' cards?

I want to know about the people. That’s one of my goals.

MY QUESTION
What has your experience been with respect to flat earthers?

You tell me. This is a screenshot from the flat-earther book on Amazon, and does it look like it was written by an atheist or a religious person? If it's by a religious person can you guess which religion is the writer?

Once, a flat earther linked me to a book. It could have been that one. That’s fine but I am interested in the big picture. Who are these flat earthers? What is their religion? What’s their education level?
All these things play a role as to the wild conclusions that they reach, don’t you agree?

Well, where do anti-science claims usually come from if not religion? Six-day creation, deluge, flat earth, angels and demons, faith healing are all conspiracies that stem from holy books like Bible and Koran.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Flatters are frustrated with science. They have reverted to "if I can see it, it's true, and if I can't see it, it's false." They've dumbed down an entire planet.

The word "atheist" merely denotes the person's "off" position on claims of god/s/God/deities. Outside that common "off" an atheist can hold other superstitious beliefs, conspiracies. I've run into anti vaxxers, 9/11 truthers, others that believe in Area 51 garbage.

"Atheist" does not preclude one from holding absurd beliefs.

In all my near 60 years of living I have never once discovered anything like an off switch on my person or in my head.

It's a reference to the binary position of "believer" or "non-believer". I don't think Brian was inferring a physical entity under your skull.

It is metaphor. It merely means you hold the position that a super natural entity does not exist or you see no evidence for one.

Seems more of a dimmer switch, then.

52 percent of flat earth believers consider themselves to be very religious https://nowthisnews.com/videos/future/ho...-connected

Some of them believe it because of religious texts. Some of them think they've seen the truth with their own eyes (for example seeing a city across from a lake when you're not supposed to be able to see it), but what they're seeing is a mirage and they don't understand how light bends, etc. Some of them see that governments' job is to lie to the people, which is very true, and this causes these flat earthers and other conspiracy theorists to take it to the extreme and they end up believing the opposite of what the government/ NASA, etc say because these people have been lied to by government so much that they just reject everything from the government, which includes the true things coming from the government/ establishment.
