For what it's worth, I think it's fine to point out problems with the police but it's equally fine to point out those who do a good, or even exceptional, job.

The only issue I see with that is the cops that are just doing their job like they should get little credit.

In between the stories that piss us off and the ones that tug at your heartstrings are the cops doing their job the way it should be done, day in and day out.
