Sacrifice themselves? Really . I'd pay to see that. Talk is cheap. I've known a few brave people. Well three in that they were given medals ; One was given the George Cross for her behaviour as a Fire Warden in Liverpool during WW2 and two for actions in Vietnam. All quietly spoken, none ever boasted about their valour.   

Be very interesting to see just how many braggards are willing to die when push comes to shove.

In my opinion, only a fool boasts of courageous deeds before they have been done.

I can't stress enough that it's less an issue of bragging about (future) courageous deeds and more like scalping leftists and poc in the streets. These people aren't ridiculous, or they're not just ridiculous.

Yeah, big modern armies are explicitly designed to fight big modern armies. The thought has been (for all of time) that a state has the most to fear from another state like itself. Might have been true once, isn't true anymore, and those big modern armies have been changing themselves to confront that fact - but it takes awhile. This was awhile back - but a specific example. The majority of people who were trying to reup in my company, during a war, were turned down. Meanwhile, they aggressively pursued mout specialists regardless of their service history or even our desire to remain on. Shittiest job you could get, and none of us wanted to do it, but that's all they wanted to spend for. Alot of us got into it for doing one thing, and mostly wound up doing some other thing - and I guess that's what transition always looks like.

With some experience in this, I doubt the us military (or any military, ultimately) with regards to it's ability to put down a local insurgency, but I don't doubt it's ability to rout a lynching mob on the field and set them fleeing in abject terror for their lives, for the rest of their lives. That's basically mowing down peasants. NP. The first 180 seconds of an actual engagement with us forces isn't something you want to be on the other side of - we don't exactly save our ammo and there isn't a huge culture of respect for the adversary and the dignity of their life. People are going to get shot on the toilet, with a missile, on purpose, for example. I still maintain that just one saw peeling out on the rotunda would have stopped jan 6 cold.

 Yair, in reality, I'd prefer not to make predictions. Except to say civil wars are always even more tragic than foreign wars, because brother does literally fight brother and a great many civilians also usually end up dead.

It's said that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. From where I sit, it seems that a great many Americans have learned nothing about the US civil war.  Simply look at the origins of so many of the  belligerent ignoramuses who seem so eager to start shooting other people.  Doesn't seem to have sunk in, that those people will actually shoot back.  IF the hostiles don't fear their own deaths  perhaps they should fear the deaths of anyone and anything they love which may take generations to recover from.

They won't shoot back. They never do. That's what ethnic cleansers count on, and it's a safe bet. It's said that generals have a tendency to fight the last war, and we could see all the civil war fetishizing as a civilian expression of that - but what theyre talking about isn't a civil war.

It's not a civil war. That's not what these people are fantasizing about - it's just the thematic vehicle for the fantasy. This really has to sink in for us to go from making fun of rednecks cosplaying rebels to a better understanding of the situation in reality. The reason that they've maintained the fiction that the trumpster is still president, and secretly in control, and gathering evidence... is down to seeing that future where federal forces sweep and bag dissidents with enthusiastic support from local death squads.

Consider all of the ideas leftists have about the ability of the us government to abuse, and violently abuse, people. Here..there, anywhere. They all believe in this stuff too - that's why they're disaffected with establishment types. They fear a future in which the power of our government, elected by the people...but..not..their people..if you catch my drift..... is levied against them, and see the destruction of the majority as the only way to prevent that inevitable state of affairs. They fear that they're being replaced, being marginalized..and it's on the back of true beliefs about how the us treats marginalized communities that they unironically seek to establish a permanent minority rule. They're not combatants, they're weak people flirting with the idea of killing their neighbors because, deep down..they know their neighbors will one day have to dispense with them. They insist.
