I really think it would have been better if Biden had said he was going to look for the best person for the job.  Full fucking stop.

Yeah, he got himself in a bind. During the election, he publicly pledged to nominate a Black woman in return for an endorsement by the Congressional Black Caucus.

So, on the one hand, he's fulfilling a promise he made, a rare yet admirable quality. On the other hand, he's handed the right a talking point about affirmative action.

(January 29, 2022 at 9:46 am)Fake Messiah Wrote: Afghanistan: Parents sell children and kidneys to feed starving families

After the withdrawal of Western forces from Afghanistan last year, the Taliban regime took over but has not received international recognition. Afghans are now resorting to desperate measures to feed themselves as aid struggles to reach them.

The Taliban says this is all a Western myth, dreamed up by evil, dishonest Western media to discredit them.

They also say all girls in the country are in education, that schools and universities are all open and they're not rounding up female activists or carrying out vendettas against those who worked with the foreign troops once stationed here for two decades.

The lack of worldwide recognition of the Taliban government has meant a country which was previously almost wholly dependent on foreign aid has seen that all but dry up.

Just to illustrate how fucked up news media is these days, but that is essentially the repackaging of a story that was in the Grauniad a week earler. At leas the Graun admitted they got their story from an Afghani collective of women reporters.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Congressman Misattributes Quote

Quote:On Sunday, Massie sarcastically , "You mustn't question Fauci, for he is science." Under those words, Massie posted an image that featured a giant hand crushing a group of much smaller people. The image includes a quote it attributed to Voltaire, the 18th-century Enlightenment writer and philosopher: "To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize."

Facts FirstThere is no record of Voltaire ever uttering these words. The quote is commonly attributed to Kevin Alfred Strom, a neo-Nazi who  to possession of child pornography. Strom uttered a similar quote during a virulently antisemitic 1993 radio broadcast.

Nowt like quoting a Nazi paedo to get your point across.

It’s not even an affirmative action talking point. To insinuate (them, not you) that any black woman Biden picks for the job will be de facto unqualified simply because she’s black, therefore “affirmative action”, isn’t even a talking point; it’s explicit racism.

I should have been clearer - it's an affirmative action talking point only because racists are pointing to it and shrieking about affirmative action. The fact that it has nothing to do with affirmative action is immaterial.

Here is a list of 50 books that conservative parents in Texas are trying to have banned from schools, and just about every single one is considered problematic for discussing racism or LGBTQ issues.

For example, one book being targeted is White Bird: A Wonder Story by R.J. Palacio. NBC News summarizes: “A parent in the Spring Branch ISD said this graphic novel — about a Jewish teen living in France after Nazis seized power — should be banned because it’s ‘biased’ and could lead to the ‘skewing of a young child’s mind.’” We wouldn’t want any young minds to be skewed against Nazis.

Another targeted book is a biography of Michelle Obama that one parent complained “unfairly depicts former President Donald Trump as a bully.”

I'm waiting for someone to lay a complaint about the bible: murder, genocide, rape, incest. It even has a part on inducing abortions.

Wont happen, because these poeple dont now and never have given a single fuck about the things they justify their book bans by. Not a single one of them would ban the babble based on the metric they ban any other book by.

They're idiots..and worse, they're theocratic zealots. Rome had it right way back when. Build a cause way at any expense to assault and annihilate these people as an existential threat to anyone in their vicinity.
