Reducing  the population will not fix climate change

Not sure what you mean by that. It can be argued, that no matter what life does, even if humans didn't exist, the planet will always do what it does. I'd only argue that because we exist, we are pouring gas on the fire speeding up what the planet would do if we never evolved.

Anyone who says reducing the population will not lower man' s effect on the environment is a drooling shithead who hasn' t the slightest idea of what they are talking about.....

It' s simple math.

Say you had one tenth of the population - EVEN IF they doubled their consumption of hydrocarbons - you would have one fifth the hydrocarbons being consumed.

Same with farming - which is heavilly blamed for climate change.... You would only raise 20 percent of what is being raised now. We could eliminate factory farming.

What is the twisted, fuckwad logic that says otherwise?

You gotta be a Catholic to believe that kind of bullshit.

I think Biker's claim hinges on the assumption that, with less people, we'd have less need to do all the shit that leads to all these greenhouse gases. But, frankly, as much as I hate being around people and sometimes find myself thinking that maybe Thanos had the right idea, at best, it's just part of the problem. The countries that emit the most greenhouse gases are also the ones with the lowest birth rates. And we hoard resources like there's no tomorrow, and, in fairness, there may as well not be much of a tomorrow for the human race. And, frankly, the assumption that the big forces who are actually doing most of the greenhouse gas emissions will, say, half their carbon footprint once the population is halved, I don't really see that happening.

Let's remember that we used to inhabit Mars before we "hopped".

Cockroaches always find a way to survive! Hehe

Yes, we're only beginning to do the stuff we should have been doing in the early 90s.

We've made quite a mess of things, but humans will survive.  Should civilization collapse, the atmospheric CO2 will decrease a good bit after 50 years, then linger a century or more.  The climate will stabilize.  A new beast will slouch toward Bethlehem.

ANYTHING would be better than the dripping wet humidity of the gulf coast... great, friendly people, great business, great schools, but that 99% summer humidity will whack you to a parade rest...

I moved north to escape it, seems like it followed me more and more.

I voted no, we’re not doomed. The majority of earth has always been hostile to us, we merely conceal that fact with tools and cooperation. As such, no matter what issue we face now or in present, the answer is more of us with more ideas and more tools. That’s also the only thing that could really doom us. If we lose too many, if we refuse to engage with ideas, if we refuse to use the tools at our disposal. Then, even if it were a breezy day in paradise, we would be doomed.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Not that savvy on climate models. My judgment is based sheerly on an assessment of human nature and what things capitalism tends to prioritize.

Invest in non-coastal real estate, y'all. Especially in the mountains.

Better yet, invest in a good double barrel and two twelve guage shells.
