It sounds, to me, like you disagree with the law. It’s not that the man was picked up for no reason, and it’s certainly not the case that the circumstances of his crime weren’t deeply concerning.
You just don’t like the law.
Even in that context, I can’t see the issue. He survived. He posted. He proposed. Provided that he wasn’t a loon posting qanon shit and rebellion fantasies in unencrypted apps to his militia buddies, he’ll pay a fine.

See if an out of state visitor is required to have an FOID.
Hint - no.
He was NOT carrying the weapons illegally.
He should NOT have been arrested as no laws were broken. ( hotel rules are not enforcable by law)

Yes, biker, he was breaking the law. Had he left his firearms safely stowed in his car, he would have been fine. That’s not what he did. What he did, instead, was take his loaded rifle into his hotel room, overlooking a tourist spot.

I suspect that he’s a garden variety nut, but the cops tend not to take those chances with tourists.
